It’s time for our third (and last book) discussion already! Where did the time go? I won’t lie, I finished this book one or two days after posting the second discussion post last week! I just had to find out how it ends. And now I’m even more excited to see the movie, and I hope that all of you can join me next Wednesday in discussing the movie adaptation! Beware that there are spoilers for the book in this post and the comments, if you have not yet read this book but still intend to read it!

– Chapters 50-72 Discussion Questions –
Those of you who have not yet read To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han and still intend to read it, don’t read beyond this point (including the comments), because there will be spoilers! You have been warned. But, if you like spoilers … be my guest!
It’s not mandatory that you answer these questions! This is not school, haha. The questions are mainly meant to generate conversations in case some of our readalongers are having a hard time picking something to talk about. Also, feel free to mention and discuss anything which I may not have thought of in the questions below! Please be sure to avoid posting spoilers about P.S. I Still Love You, the next book in this series.
Also! if you do decide to answer the questions in the comments, please number your answers to correspond with the questions. It just makes it easier and less confusing for everyone (including myself)! Thank you!
– The Questions –
- Did you expect Peter to confess his feelings for Lara Jean when and how he did?
- Did you expect for Lara Jean to admit her feelings out loud to Peter on the very same day like she did?
- What did you think of Genevieve’s vengeance?
- Did you expect the book to end the way it did?
- And finally, are you planning on reading the rest of the series? AND would you be interested in readalongs for the next two books of the series?
– My Answers –
- I was kind of dissapointed by how this happened, if I’m being completely honest. There weren’t any fireworks for me really … and I understand why Lara Jean was hesitant about sharing her feelings / getting together with Peter for real because of Peter’s feelings for Genevieve. Plus, Peter was mean to her the entire day before this all went down, too!
- Definitely not! I thought that she would make us suffer (alongside her) while she took days and days to think everything over. And I dreaded that she might not confess at all in this book! So, I’m glad that she decided to confess her feelings when and how she did.
- Well, I thought she would do something like spill punch or beer (Ew! Stinky!) on Lara Jean … or something like that. So, I thought that the actual way in which she took her vengeance was very very cruel. That being said, it was not too too surprising, considering how mean teenagers can be to each other, and how cruel high school can be in general. What I didn’t expect was why Genevieve stopped being Lara Jean’s friend, though!
- To be honest, when checking to see how many chapters the book had, so I could figure out how to portion off each discussion section, I accidentally saw the very last words in the book. Facepalm. But, I figured that either Lara Jean wrote “Dear Peter” because she got over him over the course of the book, or because she’s writing him a love letter. So, it’s fine because it could have gone either way in my mind. But, the way it actually ended … I did definitely not see coming … and I’m glad that I don’t have to wait a whole year to find out how things develop from this point!
- Yes, I will definitely be continuing the series! And whether I host readalongs for the next two books depends entirely on YOUR answers to this question! Hehe.

I expected him to confess his feelings but I certainly didn’t expect to hear him say he had already liked her. I didn’t have an idea of how and when he was going to do it though.
Yes, It was time Lara Jean grew a back bone and I knew she had been developing feelings for a while, so it was totally expected, and I was proud of her!
I figured Gen would do something like that. I really did not like her!
I honestly don’t know how I expected the book to end knowing there were 2 more. Part of me wanted a little more resolution and the other part of me was actually satisfied.
I am planing on reading the rest of the series. I thought about asking if you were doing a read along, but I actually want to start book 2 this weekend after the movie, lol. I would probably still participate in the questions if you did a read along. Or, I think it would be fun to just read them as the group in the Twitter chat and talk about them.
This book was super cute. My hope is that we will see the writing style mature a tiny bit with each book as Lara Jean changes and grows. I hope we get more Margot! Do you want Peter and Lara Jean to get together for real?
But WHAT ABOUT MORE KITTY????! Lol.
Reading and chatting about the books in the twitter chat could be fun too. I could use GIFS then lolol
Lol. I could definitely use more Kitty!! She was the best!
1. Haha I’m glad I wasn’t the only one surprised by the confession and when and how it happened!
2. You’re so right about her growing a backbone! I didn’t realize it until you said it, but I think that that definitely made it more satisfying!
3. Grrrrr, Gen!
4. I know what you mean about resolution! And again, I’m glad we don’t have to wait a year for the next book hahaha.
5. Hmmmm Twitter chat might be good! We would just need to figure out how to not spoil things for each other in there…So, maybe we can set dates for when we can discuss each book? So people know not to look? I dunno….let me know if you have any ideas for this, anyone who’s reading this!
I know what you mean! I guess we’ll see if the writing matures along with Lara Jean? I would have loved to read this book in high school, but I definitely love reading it now as an adult as well 🙂
Also, YAS! More Kitty and Margot please!!!!
I think setting dates would be a good idea for the chat so we don’t spoil anything. Very good idea. Once we find out who is on board we can find out what time frame works for everyone?
Did you expect Peter to confess his feelings for Lara Jean when and how he did?
A: It was cute and silly enough to be perfectly Kavinsky. I love the two of them together. I hope they’re end game for the entire series. If you know DO NOT TELL ME!!! lol.
Did you expect for Lara Jean to admit her feelings out loud to Peter on the very same day like she did?
A: No. That was a pleasant surprise. I thought she would have fought it for a little longer. But I’m glad that she did.
What did you think of Genevieve’s vengeance?
A: Ugh! I cannot believe her! Of course she’d go behind Lara Jean’s reputation. Of course! But I cannot believe Peter just went along with it, the fact that he didn’t immediately understand why she was upset and set the record straight. That part was the hardest for me to read. (As vengeance goes, it was good. I guess. *humph*)
Did you expect the book to end the way it did?
A: I didn’t and I did. I knew she would end up walking away from Peter when things got too real but I didn’t think she’d find her way back to him so soon. It was oddly perfect.
And finally, are you planning on reading the rest of the series? AND would you be interested in readalongs for the next two books of the series?
A: When do we start?!
1. That’s definitely a good point! And it makes me feel better about it too 🙂 Thanks, Dee!
2. Glad we’re on the same page here! Haha.
3. Yeahhhh I was a bit upset with Peter for that too…but I know that guys don’t think like we do, and will sometimes not see things that we consider to be obvious. Haha. I really hope he and Lara Jean work things out in book 2!
4. Aweee. You’re right!
5. And yeah! Good question! I might ask the group in the Twitter chat…and see how we could hold discussions there in stead? It would be easier than comments….but at the same time, we wouldn’t be able to keep things organized as I did with the posts, so people could stumble over spoilers much easier if they haven’t kept up with everyone….
Oh. I didn’t think of that. I guess it would be hard to stop spoilers on Twitter. Still up for it whichever way works out.
Right? And haha I’ll try to figure something out! Maybe I’ll set up a forum lmao
I liked the ending where both Laura Jean and Peter remained upbeat and were able to resolve their difficulties. I liked the series because of her family life with her sisters. Great to see an Asian MC. Great post Flavia! ❤️
Yeeees 😀 I love the Song sisters! And thank you so much for reading, Dani! We definitely need more Asian MCs! ❤️

1. I was also disappointed with the way Peter confessed his feelings for Lara Jean. I was expecting something a bit more romantic. He just seemed to say it so randomly and nonchalantly. I wish it had been more of a special moment.
2. I wasn’t surprised that Lara Jean admitted her feelings to Peter on the same day. I think that was a good decision because I think waiting only would’ve let their problems get more out of hand.
3. I knew it was coming but what Genevieve did was still really cruel.
4. I think the ending was fitting. I’m not sure how I expected it to end, but I’m satisfied by the way it did and super curious to see what happens in the next two books!
5. I will ABSOLUTELY be reading the rest of this trilogy and I would love to participate in readalongs for the next two books!! I was actually just thinking about how much I enjoyed answering these discussion questions and seeing everyone else’s answers so I hope that you decide to do this again 🙂 ❤
a bit late to this discussion cause i finished the book about a day late xD
Did you expect Peter to confess his feelings for Lara Jean when and how he did?
i’m with you here. i thought there would’ve been something more special but considering their relationship, it fit how his confession came during an argument/misunderstanding (if i remember hahaa i think i already forgot).
Did you expect for Lara Jean to admit her feelings out loud to Peter on the very same day like she did?
i thought she was going to right after he admitted his, actually!
What did you think of Genevieve’s vengeance?
i wanted to punch her in the face lol at first i was like “she wouldn’t stoop that low” because they were friends once but apparently not haha.
Did you expect the book to end the way it did?
i actually didn’t expect things to wrap up as fast as they did towards the end because there’s two other books in the series.
And finally, are you planning on reading the rest of the series? AND would you be interested in readalongs for the next two books of the series?
yes, i’m definitely reading the rest of the series!! it would be cool to have a readalong for the next books
