Artwork from the likes of Jane Mount, Lisa Congdon, Julia Rothman, and Sophie Blackall is interwoven with text from essayist Maura Kelly, bestselling author Gretchen Rubin, and award-winning author and independent bookstore owner Ann Patchett. Rounded out with poems, quotations, and aphorisms celebrating the joys of reading, this lovingly curated compendium is a love letter to all things literary, and the perfect gift for bookworms everywhere.

Firstly, I’d Rather Be Reading will be celebrating its one year birthday tomorrow! Secondly … my first reaction to this book was that it was a different size from what I had expected. I did not look at the dimensions on the publisher’s site, but expected the book to be the size of an A4 page or larger, but it’s measurements are actually more like that of a paperback. The interior, however, was as I had expected … full of art and essays meant for book lovers! Seriously … what’s not to love?

I would have liked if the book had been a little longer (it’s 96 pages long), but I was definitely happy with what I was given as well. Besides, maybe this could turn into a series? Also, there was art inside that was created by fellow blogger Evie Seo! Ah! It’s definitely a book that I would revisit, and just a pleasure to read since I’m a book lover myself. I definitely recommend I’d Rather be Reading by Guinevere de la Mare, a celebration of books, readers, and reading, to my fellow book lovers!
