monthly wrap-up

Monthly Wrap-Up (December 2017)

I cannot believe that 2017 is almost over! Ahhh! Where did the months go. It’s as if it was just yesterday that January 2017 had just happened, and we were all setting new goals for the year (reading, and not reading related). Now it’s just … over. Due to this being the last monthly wrap-up of 2017, I have decided to make this post a little special, in that I will talk a bit about my goals for the past year, and my goals for 2018!

– Past and Future Goals –

I am happy to announce that I hit my Goodreads goal of reading
100 books, and I even went a little bit over! Yay!

I am still debating whether I want to aim for 100 again, or go to 110, or 120? I know for sure that I wouldn’t be able to make it to 150, hahaha. Have you guys reached your reading goals for 2017? And what will they be for 2018???

So, this year, I did read more backlist books that I did in 2016, but I still did not hit the number that I was aiming for! You guys know how it is, there are so many awesome-sounding books coming out all the time (and please believe that I’m not complaining about that! It’s awesome!), but backlist books inevitably get pushed to the back burner. Of the Beat the Backlist (hosted by Novel Knight) reading list that I made, here are the books that I actually managed to read in 2017:

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
A Darker Shade of Magic by Victoria Schwab
Truthwitch by Susan Dennard
The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi
Cress by Marissa Meyer

I’m really glad that I read those, but out of the list of 24 books that I made, it’s kind of sad that I only managed to read 5. Sad. Buuuut on a more positive note, I also read some backlist books that I hadn’t added to the initial list, such as:

The Bad Beginning (A Series of Unfortunate Events) by Lemony Snicket
The Diviners by Libba Bray
Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray
The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black
Ms. Marvel, Vol. 1: No Normal by G. Willow Wilson
Seven Days of You by Cecilia Vinesse
King Baby by Kate Beaton
My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix
Zodiac Starforce: By the Power of Astra by Kevin Panetta and Paulina Ganucheau
My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows
Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco
Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix
The Little Book of Hygge: The Danish Way to Live Well by Meik Wiking

And now that I’ve listed these other backlist reads, I don’t feel like a complete failure anymore, because that brings the 5 up to an 18! Hurray! I’m not sure if I’ll be participating in any challenges in 2018 though, since I really sucked at tracking and submitting my points for all of the challenges that I participated in this year. I liked the idea of participating in challenges, but in the end they just add to my stress levels because I don’t have as much time to devote to them as I would like. So, for 2018, I have made a list of books that I’d like to read, and I will underline backlist, and 2018 releases in different colours and will share the bullet journal spread with you guys soon!

THANK YOU FOR READING MY WRAP-UP POST, AND I HOPE THAT YOU HAVE AN AMAZING 2018! HAVE YOU READ ANYTHING GOOD IN THE PAST MONTH? THE PAST YEAR? OR ARE YOU EXCITED TO READ A PARTICULAR BOOK IN THE COMING YEAR? AND DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING PLANNED FOR NEW YEARS EVE? LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS BELOW!
