When most girls get engaged, at most they face a disapproving mother-in-law, but in Tessa Sharpe’s case, it’s a disapproving nation. No one in the tiny kingdom of Avonia wants the former anti-royal blogger to wed Prince Arthur. The anti-royals haven’t forgiven her for abandoning ship and swimming over to the Prince’s yacht, and the royal watchers won’t ever forget all the horrible things she wrote about their beloved Royal Family.

Up against all odds, Tessa has only six months to prove herself worthy of the title of Princess. Her nasty father-in-law is going to throw every obstacle in her way, including the beautiful, poised, and highly accomplished Lady Doctor Brooke Beddingfield. But Tessa is determined to make this work and keep her fledgling career as a reporter intact.

Will Tessa manage to fight her way down the aisle and find her Prince Charming waiting? Or will one of them succumb to mounting pressure and run the other way before they can say I do?

⤖ My Review ⬻

I haven’t read many books that are sequels to when the main couple in the first book get together. Usually, them getting together is the end goal for me. But with The Royal Wedding I’ve found that nurturing the relationship can be just as important (if not more so). In regard to my own long-term relationship, we know that communication is key…and it’s so eye-opening (and frustrating) when I come across real and fictional couples who don’t seem to get that (or understand the concept but don’t put it into action).

This will explain why I was frowning for a good part of The Royal Wedding, haha. To clarify, I wasn’t frowning because the story wasn’t good (far from it!) but because of the communication thing. I won’t say more than that on the subject in order to avoid spoilers.

Without obstacles like lack of communication, we wouldn’t have much of a story though! You need obstacles in order to make the end goal more satisfying. This is what I always tell myself when I become frustrated with the characters in a book, TV show, or movie (and it usually calms me down…temporarily, haha).

It was great to see how Tessa and Arthur’s relationship developed past the finally-becoming-a-couple stage, especially due to the obstacles put in place by society due to Arthur being a prince and Tessa being a “commoner.”

Did love prevail in the end for Tessa and Arthur? I recommend that you give The Royal Wedding a read yourself and find out! If you haven’t yet read The Royal Treatment, I recommend that you start there. This is a funny, heart-warming contemporary romance series with enough drama to get your blood pumping and your eye twitching a little, hehe. I definitely recommend!

⤖ About the Author ⬻

Melanie Summers, author of The Royal Treatment

Melanie Summers resides in Edmonton, Canada, with her husband, three sporty nerd children, their adorable one-eyed dog, and one tiny puppy with a cute little brown nose. When she’s not writing novels, she loves reading (obviously), snuggling up on the couch with her family for movie night (which would not be complete without lots of popcorn and milkshakes), and long walks in the woods near her house. Melanie also spends a lot more time thinking about doing yoga than actually doing yoga, which is why most of her photos are taken ‘from above’. She also loves shutting down restaurants with her girlfriends. Well, not literally shutting them down, like calling the health inspector or something. More like just staying until they turn the lights off.
