Since I had so much fun putting together a post similar to this last year, and so many of you seemed to enjoy reading it, that I thought I would make a post like that again this year! And hey, maybe I’ll make it a yearly thing if you like this one as well! Also, please note that just like last year, I won’t be including movies that I have already seen and that terrified me (i.e. all of the The Conjuring movies, all of the Insidious movies, all of the Paranormal movies, etc.) Do you make lists of movies to watch this time of year? And are they kind of scary, super scary, or not at all scary? Let me know in the comments!

Hocus Pocus (1993)

I watch this movie every year, so it should come as no surprise that it made it onto the list again! It’s funny and creepy, and uniquely Hocus Pocus, and I love it!

Tragedy Girls (2017)

I’ve seen this movie mentioned on a number of blogs lately, and of course saw it as a sign that I should watch it in preparation for Halloween this year!

– Three –

Crimson Peak (2015)

This movie is one of the scariest that I’ve ever seen, but I also find it to be creepily beautiful, and love the atmosphere and the casting. So, I plan on re-watching it!

– Four –

Practical Magic (1998)

I can’t believe that I haven’t seen this one yet! I’m worried that I might not read the book if I see the movie first, but I have no idea when I’d get to the book, and I’m tired of missing out, so I’m just going to watch the film adaptation this October!

– Five –

ParaNorman (2012)

I didn’t watch this movie right when it came out, thinking it would be silly. But, when I finally did sit down to watch it, I was so impressed! It was really well-done (stylistically and plot-wise), funny at times, and (to my surprise) it also made me cry!

– Six –

The Shining (1980)

How have I not seen this movie yet?! Especially after seeing all of the references to it in Ready Player One (2018), I figured that I should really watch it, even if it’s just so that I’m in the loop and I don’t even end up liking it, haha!

Sleepy Hollow (1999)

This movie is one of my all-time favourites, and while it made the list last year, I never actually got around to watching it! I usually watch these movies with my sister, so since she lived over an hour away at the time and wasn’t around much, I totally blame her for us running out of time to see it last year! Hehehe.

– Eight –

The Lost Boys (1987)

This is another one that I’m ashamed not to have seen yet! I mean, I love vampires (excluding the Twilight ones), and I love the 80s, so it’s really silly of me not to watch it.

– Nine –

It (2017)

This one definitely had its scary moments! But I also really enjoyed the plot and atmosphere. I probably won’t re-watch it alone though, so I’ll have to see if I can convince someone (or a few someones) to watch it with me!

– Ten –

Get Out (2017)

My sister and her boyfriend, as well as a number of other people, have raved to me about this movie, and while it doesn’t seem like your typical Halloween-y scary movie, it made the list because it definitely looks quite terrifying in a realistic way!

– Eleven –

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

This one, like Hocus Pocus, is a must-see every October for me (and on the occasional December as well)! It’s a classic and also quite special in the way it mixes the entirely different holidays of Halloween and Christmas! Plus, it included a very iconic love story!

– Twelve –

Carrie (2013)

While I was originally planning on reading the book, or seeing the original 1976 film adaptation, I figured that the newer effects of the 2013 remake would be a little scarier and more convincing! Plus, I’ll be less likely to cringe at said effects.

– Thirteen –

Happy Death Day (2017)

I really wasn’t too keen on watching this movie, because I thought that it would be completely lame, but my boyfriend insisted and by the end of it, I was so impressed that I’ve raved to a few people about it since! I definitely plan on re-watching this one this month, and maybe convincing a few people who have or haven’t seen it to join me!
