A Cat’s Tale is a history of feline kind: its origins, the evolution of the relationship with their human companions, and the surprising ways in which feline history parallels that of humanity. From the prehistoric Felis (a large mammal from which all domestic cats have descended) to ancient Egyptian cat goddess, key cats of the Enlightenment to swashbuckling pirate felines and infamous American tabbies, the story of catkind is told here in its totality.

⤖ My Review ⬻

I’ve always been fascinated by the history of certain animals in relation to human beings. I’ve been exposed to some of it because of our family dog and the curiosity of my family around the history of dog-and-human relationships. But we haven’t had a cat in the family for quite some time a while, and then suddenly welcomed three of them into our group in the span of two months!

These new furry friends definitely sparked my curiosity again, and my wish must have been released into the universe because I heard about A Cat’s Tale just a few months after I recognized my reawakened curiosity on the subject! When seeing A Cat’s Tale for the first time, I remember foremost being pulled in by the elegant front cover. The second thing that drew me in was the fact that the history of cats in A Cat’s Tale would be told from a cat’s perspective–specifically Baba’s the cat’s perspective.

An amazing bonus, of course, is all of the cat photos inside! Baba the cat poses in all sorts of costumes that correlate with the historical period or event being discussed in A Cat’s Tale, and it’s wonderful! What a glamorous kitty! I also liked the quality of this book as a product.

A Cat’s Tale is a hardcover book and the pages inside are high-quality glossy paper. The photographs are also printed on glossy paper and are also of high quality. And did I mention the costumes? A Cat’s Tale also contained a lot more history than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. All in all, this book was a lot of fun!
