Top Ten Tuesday #38: Ten Books That I Meant To Read In 2017 But Didn’t Get To

Happy New Year my lovelies! I know that I’ve already said this in previous posts, but this is my first Top Ten Tuesday of 2018, so it felt necessary that I do it again. Hehe. Today’s post will be one that is quite embarrassing for me to share, haha. I will have listed some of the top books that I planned to read in 2017, that I didn’t even up reading in 2017. I’m not even including books published in previous years! This is painful, I tell ya. Also, this will be the last week when Top Ten Tuesday will be hosted by The Broke and the Bookish! Starting next week, Top Ten Tuesday will be hosted by and on The Artsy Reader Girl! So be sure to update your bookmarks and all that. I’m sad that The Broke and the Bookish are letting Top Ten Tuesday go, but am simultaneously happy that someone has decided to adopt it! So, thank you, The Artsy Reader Girl!

For those of you who don’t know what Top Ten Tuesday is all about, here is a quote from The Broke and the Bookish, the genuises behind this weekly meme!

Each week we will post a new Top Ten list that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post and, if you want to, add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s posts (typically put up midnight EST on Tuesday) so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It’s a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.

…and now that all of the necessary stuff is out of the way….

– Ten Books That I
Meant To Read In 2017
But Didn’t Get To
 –

Ooops! I did it again!

We had a prompt like this at the beginning of 2017, and I’m so bad! I realized now, that I only read one of the books on the list that I said I’d read in 2017 (which I failed to read in 2016). Siiiiiigh. Also, because the guilt is extra strong when it comes to my 2017 un-read list, I have decided to list 10 books that are sitting on my shelf, and 10 that I do not yet own. Haha. I feel more guilty about not yet reading the ones I own, so … I’m kind of masochistic, aren’t I?! Also, I’ll only be listing books which were published in 2017! Laugh-cry. Let’s see how I do with this list in 2018, shall we?

  1. The only one of these I have read is Starfish (SO good btw) and all of them are on my list, too! Just can’t fit them all in haha

  2. OOOOOO Go read THUG! And I meant to read The Last Namasara too! I always have so many books on my TBR I never get to them when I want. The struggle is real!

  3. I’ve read quite a lot of these and they were all really good! An Enchantment of Ravens was probably the one I enjoyed the least (it’s really short–not even 300 pgs) because it felt a little lacking :S

    1. Ahhhh you’re so lucky that you read a lot of them 😛 And awe I’ve heard mostly good things about Enchantment, but maybe 2 bad things about the length. Thanks so much for reading!

    1. I heard mixed things about Roar, so I hope that I really like it too! And you got me thinking about it……and I kind of DO prefer that my TBR list be long…rather than empty. There’s always that fear of running out of things to read 😛

        1. Me either 😛 but when I was in my teens, I somehow always ran out of stuff to read…I think I just wasn’t informed enough about new releases and stuff.

  4. Ooh, there are so many books I loved on this list! THUG, of course, was amazing, and well-deserving of all the hype it has gotten. I can barely wait for the movie. Want was so diverse, and the heist-plot was done incredibly well. Oh, and the cast was freaking fantastic! It was kinda weird because to me at least the main character/narrator and his love interest were the least interesting out of the squad, so THAT WAS SAD, because I was a lot more pumped for scenes with the others. But otherwise it was one heck of a book – the future it depicted was scarily realistic in some ways. The Language of Thorns is, probably, one of my favorite books of the year. So damn beautiful and the tales were incredibly unique and well-written. Loved Before the Devil Breaks You, though not as much as the previous books in the series. Also really enjoyed The Epic Crush of Genie Lo (super-fun and light) and The Bear and the Nightingale. I was really disappointed in Blood Rose Rebellion, it butchered Hungarian history for one, but also had awful characters and boring plot. I DO HOPE YOU’LL LIKE IT THO! I know Hungarians who enjoyed it, so I may be the odd one out. Anyhow, really hope you’ll get to all these books this year! Great list!

    1. Yesss I need to read THUG asap. And Want too! I hope that I like the love interest more than you did hehe. Yeeeees, I’ve read one or 2 short stories from The Language of Thorns and LOVED them. I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t like Before the Devil Breaks You as much as the first books (since I LOVED The Diviners and Lair of Dreams), but I’m glad that you still said you loved it 🙂 Yay for Epic Crush and Bear and Nightingale! And oh man I’ve heard that about Blood Rose Rebellion from one other person too, so I’m worried now lol. Thank you! And thanks for reading! 🙂

  5. My heart broke a little reading this list LOL! jk, but you really need to read THUG in time for the movie release later this year #jussayin 🙂 we share so many unread books Flavia, I also really want to get to Want by Cindy Pon & got a copy from Bookoutlet. You have a ton of great reads to choose from, can’t go wrong 🙂

    1. Ahhhhhh I’m sorry! And yes THUG has to happen asap. And definitely before the movie comes out! Because if I watch the movie first, I definitely won’t read the book and that would just be sad lmao. Yeah I got my copy of Want off BookOutlet too! Sounds so good. I’m glad that we share some unread books hehe 😛

  6. ooooh, there are so many great reads on this list!!! 🙂 my favorites were “the hate you give”, “starfish”, “they both die at the end” and “eliza and her monsters”. i hope you’ll get to those books. they are awesome!

    1. Gahhhh heard so many good things about all of those! I wish that we had more hours in a day, so that I could read more books. Haha. Thanks for reading my post and I hope that you get to read as much from your TBR this year as possible 😀

  7. I want to read Silvera’s and Ciccarelli’s books so badly. I own the latter but haven’t bought the first one yet. Enchantment is amazing! I hope you love it.
