It’s Tuesday again! Hurray! And this week we will be listing the top ten things that will make us instantly not want to read a book. I was actually thinking last week that it’d be interesting to see the opposite from everyone, and I didn’t think to check then what this week’s theme would be, so imagine my surprise when I finally did check! So hurray! This will be fun.
For those of you who don’t know what Top Ten Tuesday is all about, here is a quote from The Broke and the Bookish, the genuises behind this weekly meme!
Each week we will post a new Top Ten list that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post and, if you want to, add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s posts (typically put up midnight EST on Tuesday) so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It’s a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.
And now that all of the necessary stuff is out of the way….
Hideous coversss!!!! As sad as it sounds, that’s my first NO-NO sign!!
Great list. I agree with you all of these 1, 2 and 5. Love the GIFs.
I absolutely hate it when the romance is being used only in order to move forward the plot it’s so frustrating! Especially if the author just uses it for drama
Yeeeees same here! Especially if there’s a love triangle involved just for the sake of drama too!
NUMBER 8. I tried to explain this to my husband and he just didn’t get it.
LOL! How did he not get it?! But I guess it just doesn’t bother some people 😛
I didn’t know #10 existed! But that’s probably because I read smutty romance books. LOL. I could see why that would be annoying, though! Nice list!
My TTT.
Bahahah I may need to take a break from YA and read some smutty books!
Yes! Hideous covers are so hard to deal with. It’s an instant turn off.
Yesss! I try to look past the cover, but if it’s really bad I just CAN’T!
yeah… I know… hahaha
Superficial to the Power!!!!!
Hahaha! Woo!
Love triangles just drive me NUTS!
Glad it’s not just me hahaha
#10 is so funny! Though I totally agree about ugly covers, it’s disrespectful to the book to give it any ugly cover… Flavia another great post! BTW I nominated you for the Sunshine Blogger Award – https://perspectiveofawriter.wordpress.com/2017/04/24/sunshine-blogger-award/
Haha I’m glad people aren’t making fun of me for #10! And yes it really is disrespectful! Also, thank you very much!!! 😀 <3
Haha, nice pointers. Bad covers, diversity inlcusion for the sake of it are my no-nos.
PS: Did you enjoy ACOTAR series by Maas? I see many points in the list that say otherwise
Diversity inclusion for the sake of it was on my list too.
YES! I was going to add that. Or rather “diverse secondary characters just for the sake of diversifying the book” or something like that. I made this post on Sunday, and then thought of other things to add but didn’t have the time to update the post D:
And I did like the ACOTAR series bahaha, and now feel like a horrible person.
I’m totally with you on #5. I read so much it’s easy to find the patterns. If a book falls squarely into that pattern, what’s the point? I mean, I love the journey of the hero, but put a twist on it. Happy reading!

YES! I’m so glad you agree haha. I feel like I mention this way too often in my reviews!
Yes to all! I have a huge pet peeve about magical systems and worlds not making sense, especially when it goes against the rules and laws the author has set up, just to move the plot forward. Thanks for sharing your list. 🙂
Ahhhh yes it’s terrible when they break their own rules. Did you think I wouldn’t notice?! Haha! Glad I’m not alone on this one. And thanks for reading!
Great list!

Thanks! And I’ll be sure to check it out 🙂
Hideous covers aren’t so bad, but I get annoyed when international covers are BETTER…
And predictable plots are the WORST, why bother reading the whole book when you already know what’s going to happen.
Oh wow I only JUST saw this comment! Sorry! And yeahhh… that’s happened to me before. Like I really really want the UK/Aus covers of the Nevernight series. And I’m sure there are others that I just can’t think of on the spot.
And yeah. Yuck to predictable plots!
