Hurray for Tuesday! …because it’s not Monday, and because it’s also time for Top Ten Tuesday! This week it’s all about authors we’d like to meet, and I thought I’d switch it up a bit and make it more specific, by listing the living authors I’d love to meet. There are many deceased authors I would love to meet if I could, so I may just have to make that list someday as well. I hope that you enjoy my list!
For those of you who don’t know what Top Ten Tuesday is all about, here is a quote from The Broke and the Bookish, the genuises behind this weekly meme!
Each week we will post a new Top Ten list that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post and, if you want to, add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s posts (typically put up midnight EST on Tuesday) so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It’s a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.
And now that all of the necessary stuff is out of the way….
– Top Ten (Alive) Authors I’m Dying To Meet –
– ONE –
J.K. Rowling
Because she is just amazing, and an inspiration! Rowling is an amazing author, and she will speak her mind about anything. She is not afraid to tell it how it is, and the manner in which she tells it is just…eloquent (yes, even on Twitter). She has been a hero of mine ever since I read the first Harry Potter book in my little bedroom in Austria, and she will remain one of my heroes for all time.
– TWO –
Roshani Chokshi
I finished reading her first book, The Star-Touched Queen just a few days ago (you can read my review here), and it was a purely magical experience. I had not come across writing like Chokshi’s for a while, and it was like drinking water for the first time in days…while in a dessert. Chokshi’s book was like fodder for my imagination, and I’m happy to be currently reading her second book, A Crown of Wishes (which actually comes out TODAY, Happy Book Birthday!!!)
– THREE –
Elise Kova
One of the author’s whom I’ve had the most contact with on Twitter! We sort of geeked out about Japan because she noticed that my profile pic on Goodreads is of me standing at the gates of the Meiji Shrine in Tokyo. Yes, I feel so cool! Haha. But I also love what I have read by her so far, and cannot wait for the next book in her Loom series! I also need to sit down and read her Air Awakens series as well! I have heard nothing but good things.
– FOUR –
Nicola Yoon
Although I have read none of her books yet, all of them have been sitting patiently in my TBR pile, haha. I follow her on Twitter and have seen a good amount of her tweets…and I just love what she stands for. Her books also sound unique, fun to read, and just all over GOOD. I think that we would get along very well, although I’d likely be nervous while meeting her and turn into a blabbing pile of nervousness!
– FIVE –
Bentz Deyo
The author whom I’ve had most contact with through email! We co-hosted a few giveaways together, and I’m very happy to have been able to read and review his Undelightened series! We get along very well through email, so I think that we would also get along in person! Actually, judging from our online conversations, I’d probably end up acting quite the dork…Anyway, I really enjoy his writing style, as well as the stories he tells!
– SIX –
Heather Tucker
Tucker wrote one of my favourite books of last year, The Clay Girl! I was unsure what to expect from the book going in, but then it just blew my mind. Tucker is an amazing talent, and I was very happy to hear that she is in the process of writing a sequel to The Clay Girl! Tucker is also Canadian, and she commented on my review for The Clay Girl on Goodreads (ahh!), therefore she is likely the first author I will be meeting off of this list!
– SEVEN –
Jay Kristoff
If you have read my review for Nevernight, you will know that I love this man’s writing and storytelling. Gah! I actually had to adjust my brain to a higher gear in order to properly soak up all the beautiful woooords….I’m okay. But seriously, the writing in Nevernight was life, and I cannot wait for the next book (which is coming out this Fall!) I also think that Jay and I would get along pretty well!
– EIGHT–
Marjorie Liu
I’ve only read Monstress (volume 1) which was written by Liu (illustrated by Sana Takeda, and lettered by Rus Wooton), but she is definitely a writer I’ll be keeping my eye on. The story in Monstress is very very good, and I am curious to see where Liu will be taking the story in the next volume (coming out June 6th!) The story pulls you in from the start, and the plot is proving to be quite interwoven and complex, which is something I always appreciate from authors! Liu also seems very nice!
– NINE –
Susan Dennard
I devoured Truthwitch and Windwitch earlier this year, and they have become two of my favourite fantasy novels of all time! I also love the world in which they are set, and I cannot wait for Dennard to publish the next book! Ah! I’ve never actually spoken to her (maybe through Twitter once or twice), but judging from some of her photos (I think I saw some cosplay, haha) we’d probably geek out together and it’d be fun times!
– TEN –
Kiersten White
And finally, I’d really love to meet Kiersten White! She wrote one of my favourite books of 2016, And I Darken, which is set in my motherland…Romania! Or Transylvania … kind of …. just read it. Haha. I’d never come across my history or culture in YA writing, so I was very happy to come across this book. Kiersten and I have also interacted a bit on Twitter and she is very nice! I think she was in Canada while I was visiting my grandparents in Romania …haha the irony! I could have meet her! Waaaaah!
Everyone seems to want to meet JK Rowling! Great list. I’d love to meet a number of these authors as well!

I’ll be sure to check yours out! And of course everyone wants to meet Rowling hehe 😉 Thanks for reading!
Great list! I’d love to meet Holly and SJMaas the most!
Yessss! They would be awesome to meet! I’m sad that they didn’t make it onto my top 10…but if I didn’t limit myself to 10 and SOME honourable mentions, I could have gone on forever! Haha
EPIC list Flavia! I’ve actually met Leigh Bardugo & Marissa Meyer at two separate events & they were just lovely gals 😉 I would LOOOOOOOVE & probably not know what to do with myself If I met either Jay Kristoff or Adam Silvera…Le sigh…lol smh.
Thanks Lilly!!!! 😀 And that’s so awesome! I’m super jelly!
Haha I’d probably turn into a pile of blabbering, fangirl mess if I met ANY of these authors 😛
HAHA! hey its happened to me! smh I’m getting myself mentally prepared for Bookcon *eeeeK*
I kind of hate you right now. My TBR pile was dangerously out of control already. Now it’s a disaster! Great list.
Bahahaha! I’m sorry! (and not sorry at the same time 😉 hehehe) Thanks so much for reading and commenting!!
Rowling seems to be on almost every list this week! Personally I’d like to ask her about her non-Harry Potter books, and how she manages to write such very different genres so well!
Ohhh her answer would be quite interesting I’m sure!
