The Macabre Tarot tempts you to turn away from the light and embrace the dark. While following the traditional tarot structure, the deck takes a look at the darker sides of the cards and implores you to embrace all the spooky things that lurk in the shadows. You will be pushed down the rabbit hole of your own psyche and forced to face your darkest thoughts. This unique deck is based on the traditional Rider Waite system but with suites being Crystals, Cups, Bones and Daggers.

I had the pleasure of trying out The Macabre Tarot by Sam West, which I was sent for free by Thomas Allen & Son in exchange for an honest review. Being a huge fan of the macabre, I was delighted to find out about this tarot deck and also try it out by shuffling it and trying a few different tarot spreads with it as well.
The illustrations in this tarot deck are really nice and I liked the intention behind which illustration was paired with which card—the card meaning was definitely taken into consideration. The deck comes in a coffin-shaped box that makes a creaking door sound when you open it, adding to the overall atmosphere of the deck. The selection of colours used for both the box and the cards were also perfect—the golden edging and the quality of the card stock were both great choices.
Overall, I would highly recommend The Macabre Tarot by Sam West. It’s perfect for those who love the macabre and are looking for a unique tarot deck to add to their collection. The illustrations, box, and card stock are good quality, and the attention to detail is definitely noticeable!
