Thank you so much to Katie @ Never Not Reading for tagging me to complete this tag! I’ve been using the library ever since my dad took me there for the first time when I was like 11 or 12! I used his library card to check out books and movies and CDs until I could get my own, and then I went nuts using my card (especially once I got my driver’s licence and could drive myself to the library anytime I wanted! But I should save talking about this stuff for my answers in the actual tag, so if you want to know more about my relationship with the library, please continue reading!
1. How often do you visit your local library?
I would say that I visit my library a few times a month? Maybe once a week or so? But, I mainly pop in and pop out because I go there to pick up holds. I browse the shelves digitally rather than in person these days.
2. Are you the type of person who checks out more books than you can read or are you someone who checks out the exact amount of books you intend to read before they are due?
Even when I don’t have time to walk into the library and browse the shelves, I will usually check out more books than I have time to read. Most of my reading time is taken up by ARCs, so when I check a book out from the library, it’s usually because I think I have extra time to read it (when I normally do not).
3. How old were you when you got your first library card?
I forget exactly, but I’m thinking I was around 14? But like I said in the intro paragraph, I used my dad’s library card long before I got my own!
4. Do you go to your library for a particular book or do you check out anything that piques your interest?
Usually I go there for a particular book or books that I put on hold. But, I used to go there to peruse the shelves, especially when I didn’t have a reading schedule, and was looking for something new to read. As a teen, I used to spend hours and hours looking through books, and sometimes even settling into a nook to read the first chapters of multiple books, so that I could choose which one to read next! When it was finally time to head home, I would have one of those “what year is it?” moments! Haha.
5. Do you only check out books or do you also get DVDs, audiobooks, etc.?
I used to check out books, and DVDs, and music CDs! But, now that Netflix exists, I haven’t rented a DVD from there in a long while, and it’s been even longer since I rented my last CD from there. I do still go back for physical books, and rent audiobooks digitally through their Download Library account, and can download the audiobooks directly to my laptop or phone that way! It’s very handy.
6. From what section of the library do you check out most of your books?
Definitely the YA section! I used to borrow from the adult section of the library (mostly) when I was in my teens though. I think it’s funny that I read mostly adult books when I was a teenager, and that I read young adult books now that I’m an adult! And, I can’t really explain it…
7. What is your favorite part of using your local library?
I like that they let us put things on hold! Especially since I’ve heard that not every library has this feature! It makes it possible for me to get my hands on new releases without having to camp out outside of the library doors!

I used to go all the time when I was younger ! Then I somehow stopped when I moved .. the one time I did go this year I only picked one (all our bright places) but i had THREE to read at the same time, that two was on a deadline yeh, not the greatest but hey, i did accomplished two out of the three deadlines haha
Aweee is the library further away from you now that you moved? And yay for accomplishing those deadlines! 😀
Yes and no.. i changed town so its not the same one, but its also « right there ».. so idk why we never really went tbh
Aweeee well I hope this tag will encourage your to visit this new one more 😀
Thanks for the tag Flavia! I will do it with “If my library hekd English books what I’d do” 😉
You’re welcome! And oooo do it!
From the musical, ‘The Music Man’, please enjoy, ‘Marian Librarian’.
Ohhhh thank you!!!
Not every library lets people put things on hold?!?! That’s WILD. This is such a fun tag!
Right?! Like I can’t imagine….I feel so spoiled now…haha
I really want to do this tag but unfortunately I haven’t used a library since I was in middle school! Hopefully I’ll start using it more once I get my license and can drive myself places.
Aweee that’s totally fair, Savannah!
i love the library hold section too Flavia! And I admit to using the library return dates like an ARC deadline for those books that I’ve waited a while to read, lol. I think the library (besides my mom) inspired my passion for reading! <3
Oh yeah, hahahha. Thanks for the tag! I’ll have to do this one, it was a lot of fun to read.
Yaaay! And I’m glad you enjoyed reading it! 😀
Ohhhh using the return dates as deadlines is a good idea! I usually just give up and take the books back if I don’t have time to read them between ARCs hahaha. And awe that’s so sweet about your mom! ❤
Ahhhh fun tag! I love love love the library.
Yaaaay me too!

Oh what a fun tag! I go to the library about twice a month and my kiddos pick up a ton of books each time. For me, I don’t borrow physical books from them anymore, but I use Overdrive from my local library and I LOVE that feature, it’s so convenient and easy! And YES to holds! My littles get so excited when I get an email saying something like Super Diaper Baby #2 is now available for them to pick up lol. Wonderful post!
