And second, I just wanted to say how excited I am to complete this tag! Ah! Also, please feel free to complete the tag, even if I haven’t tagged you! Just be sure to follow the rules!

29283884I started off unable to think of any books for this prompt, and then having too many to choose from once I went through my Goodreads “read” list, haha. I definitely had to go with The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue  by Mackenzi Lee for this though, because for me it really was a fresh read. Before reading it, I’d never come across anything quite like it before. I read My Lady Jane some months later, but even though they were historical comedy, I wouldn’t say they are similar in any other way. This was one of my favourite reads of 2017, and I highly recommend it if you have not read it already!

23264671I had to agree with Bionic Book Worm here! At least recently, nothing quite beats the ending of Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff! Like, what?! WHAT?! Which also reminds me that I should really write my review for this one. Woops. I have such a tall reading pile for the rest of the year, that it’s actually stressing me out and made me forget about reviewing Godsgrave. I’m a bad book blogger! Bad! What I will say here, though, is that out of Nevernight and Godsgrave, I still prefer Nevernight. This generally happens with me and the “middle books” in series though, so I’m not too worried.

Wow. This one is a very hard one for me. I scrolled through my “read” list on Goodreads, and found that nothing popped out for me. None of the books I have read, made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. At least not recently. Maybe I’m weird? Anyway, so I took to Google, and looked up the top books that will make you feel warm and fuzzy, and the ones that I’ve read out of those listed….definitely did not make me feel warm and fuzzy at all! I was going to default to Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (and accidentally copy Bionic Book Worm again, haha), but even that one…makes me feel more upset than actually warm and fuzzy. I always get very sad or angry because of how Harry lost his parents, and how’s he’s treated by the Dursleys. Then I was going to pick Jane Eyre, but here’s another orphan whose life turned out being quite unfair, so that book upsets me too. I guess I can’t go with any book for this one, and now this prompt will have me hunting for that book which makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside…since I haven’t found it yet. (I feel like such a sad little human now.)

65e602bbb4571efedb53e666583df693Since I talked a bit about Jane Eyre above, I thought I would go with this cover for this prompt. It really is one of my favourite books, don’t get me wrong. And I especially like reading it in the Fall. Also, look at the Penguin cloth-bound edition cover! It just screams Autumn! Doesn’t it? This picture doesn’t quite capture the hues in this cover, and it looks much better in real life. But I mean….it is mostly orange, so it should still work for this prompt, no? There are at least 2 Jane Eyre retellings coming out next year, one by the authors of My Lady Jane, and one which is a science fiction retelling, and I’m so excited! Have any of you read the classic version? Or do you have any retelling recommendations for me?

31423196This was a close one between Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo and Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray for me, but I ended up going with the latter, because for me, it did have more action. This book kind of surprised me. Having never read Claudia Gray before this, I was not sure what to expect at all. But I am quite happy that I did end up picking it up, because it was one of my favourite years of the year! I found the world to be very unique (at least for me), and the characters to be very likeable, or dislikeable (depending on whether they are protagonists or antagonists of course). Definitely a good read, and I can’t wait for the sequel to come out next year!

35181314A tough one again, but I definitely have to go with Ashley Poston’s Heart of Iron because I loved her previous book Geekerella to pieces! This one will be a science fiction adventure, so ah! Judging from the fictional science fiction world of the television show featured in Geekerella (a show that I wish was real, so that I could watch it), Poston definitely knows what she’s doing. It sounds really good. In second place for this spot would have to be the sci-fi retelling of Jane Eyre which is coming out next year! I’m really surprised that my top 2 choices are science fiction ones, because I generally read more fantasy. But maybe I’ve read too much fantasy in the past year and need a break? Who knows.

  2. Yay thank you for the tag! I was planning on doing this whether you tagged me or not anyway so it works out well 😀 Gentleman’s Guide is definitely a fresh, new book unlike any other! I got that feeling the second I started reading it. That Jane Eyre cover is so pretty!! I’ve never read it *hides* but I do own it!

      And aweee I hope you get to read Jane Eyre soon! It’s not for everyone, though (plot-wise, and how it’s written). I for one love the language. I’m a dork for Victorian-era writing….

  8. Jane Eyre is one of my favourites too! My edition is falling apart I’ve read it so much 😛
    I had no idea there were two retellings in the pipeline – I’m going to have to look them up. They aren’t strictly retellings, but the short story collection ‘Reader I Married Him’ has some great contributions, all inspired by Jane Eyre!
