First of all, thank you to Tia @ Tia Says for tagging me! I’m currently obsessed with visuals of baked goods, and this cake tag was immensely satisfying. I wish that I could eat cakes as often as a I look at them, but alas…my skin hates them, and they go straight to my thighs! Haha. I would have never though to combine cakes and books, but someone did it (please let me know if you know who the creator of this tag is) and it works really well! I also had way too much fun assembling the images for this tag! You can feel free to re-use them as long as you keep the credits of the illustration-creator (Natalka_Dmirova from Freepik) and my credits on the images! If you want to, you can also do a shoutout for Natalka and her Dribble page, because her cake illustrations (and other works) are amazing! (But seriously, I’m half tempted now to make my next blog layout cake-themed, hahaha).

But anyway, back to the tag! And I’ll just dive right in:

I can’t pick just one! So I’ll be going with The Bone Doll’s Twin by Lynn Flewelling, Monstress Volume 1 by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda, Drawing Blood and Lost Souls by Poppy Z. Brite, and My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix! I’m sure I’ll have more faves once Halloween rolls around!

I don’t really too many of those, although I really should give my brain a break by indulging in more of them. Off the top of my head though…they’re mostly contemporary, haha. I’m agreeing with Tia on When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon, I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maurene Go, Wesley James Ruined My Life by Jennifer Honeybourn, and King Baby by Kate Beaton (because it’s a children’s book and took me like 5 minutes to read, haha).

This one was easier than I thought! I still can’t pick just one though, so I’m sorry for flinging all of these books in your faces! Now I Rise by Kiersten White, Seven Days of You by Cecilia Vinesse, The Traitor’s Kiss by Erin Beaty, and Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde. Now I Rise gave me mixed emotions because of character alliances, and character development, Seven Days of You because I couldn’t decide if I liked the main character, hated her, or just felt bad for her, The Traitor’s Kiss because of some content issues, and Queens of Geek because I got frustrated with one of the main characters a lot because she reminded me of the side of me that I want to bury and never see again.

Easy! Or is it. Because I have loved a lot of books even just this year. So I’ll try to narrow it down to 4-5, since this “one book” business doesn’t work for me. The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee, A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas, The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi, and Geekerella by Ashely Poston.

I very very rarely DNF, and almost never since I started my blog, but I can list one DNF book, and 3 that I haven’t yet finished, but plan to. Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare I tried to read but couldn’t finish because the writing, and the main character really bothered me. I really wanted to read it because of the Victorian setting. But it was not meant to be. Sorry to all the fans out there! And these I have not yet finished, but definitely will at some point: The White Road by Lynn Flewelling, The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead, and Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab.

Easier than I expected! I am fairly picky when it comes to writing though. I’ll not include the Victorians here, just because they’ll take over this section, haha.
