– MY REVIEW –

This book was a pleasure to read! Even though I had never read the Miss Peregrine series by Ransom Riggs, I mean to, and I watched the film when it came out last September. I really enjoyed it, even though I was told that changes had been made to the original plot in order to alter it for the big screen. The plot was definitely quite satisfying for me to see played out, and another thing which stood out to me with this film, was just the colours and aesthetic.

I always like flipping through art books which are companions to films I’ve enjoyed, especially if that film was very aesthetically pleasing for me. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, directed by Tim Burton (a director which I am also a fan of), was definitely one of those films. The art book is a fantastic size, and the pages are of the best quality. There are also bits written by Ransom Riggs and Tim Burton, which were fun and informative to read!

This is definitely a book I would go back to every now and again because it is as colourful as the film, and some parts of it also feature the scrapbook/photo album style found in the books (as far as I know). I am also a big fan of concept art, having always loved to see how certain images found in films and cartoons first came to be, and were then developed into the final product.

I would say that this is a must have for those who loved the film, as well as those who have read the books! Like I said, I have not yet read the books, but my sister has, and she has also enjoyed reading, and soaking up the visuals found in, this book!
