⤖ My Review ⬻

While I was ready to take a break from Jane Eyre retellings for a while, something about Salt & Broom just felt a little more unique. For example, I hadn’t read a Jane Eyre retelling with witchy elements before this. I decided to give Salt & Broom a try, and I’m glad that I did!

All in all, Salt & Broom delivered a lot of things I enjoy—romance with pining (give me a little bit of pain thank you) and the classic Gothic literature atmosphere (though turned up a notch, spilling at times into the horror genre). The characters were compelling and well-developed as well, each with their own secrets and struggles.

The chemistry between the main characters was  great, keeping me eagerly turning the pages to see how their relationship would unfold against the backdrop of supernatural mysteries and eerie landscapes. I’m curious to check out some of Fisher’s others books now, as well as keeping an ear to the ground for anything else she might release.
