As a lead reporter for The Warrior Weekly, Eden has covered her fair share of stories at St. Joseph’s High School. And when intimate pictures of seven female students are anonymously emailed to the entire school, Eden is determined to get to the bottom of it.

In tracking down leads, Eden is shocked to discover not everyone agrees the students are victims. Some people feel the girls “brought it on themselves.” Even worse, the school’s administration seems more concerned about protecting its reputation than its students.

With the anonymous sender threatening more emails, Eden finds an unlikely ally: the seven young women themselves. Banding together to find the perpetrator, the tables are about to be turned. The Slut Squad is fighting back

⤖ My Review ⬻

I was very excited to read Revenge of the Sluts! Especially after binge-watching a season and a half of Netflix’s “Sex Education.” I definitely found that the setting and subjects complement each other.

Once I started reading though, I found the book to move a little slow. Part of it might have been that I felt the MC, Eden, didn’t feel the most developed to me. Or maybe I just couldn’t get the best grasp of her character. Eden also made some decisions that I didn’t agree with. That being said, parts of her character that were developed I did find likeable–like her passion for the cause and her care for the girls affected by the events.

I did enjoy parts of Revenge of the Sluts, but I definitely think that I would have enjoyed it more if the characters felt a bit more fleshed out, as well as the overall plot. I also wanted to point out that Eden and her parents are Korean whereas I’m not sure what the author’s expertise on the subject is (it wasn’t mentioned in the author note of my ARC), so I would definitely refer to OwnVoices reviewers regarding this aspect of Revenge of the Sluts.

I do understand and appreciate what the author tried to do with this book. The subject (and underlying subjects) discussed in Revenge of the Sluts need to be talked about and addressed not only in YA literature but in general. And I would definitely recommend this book if you’re passionate about the issues discussed.

  1. Great review, Flavia! I started reading but after a couple chapters in I put it down because it just feels so dry? I see where the author is going for but I agree that Eden is not the best main character :/ I want to finish it though, hopefully it will get better.

    1. I know exactly what you mean. And I CAN say that there ARE some interesting things that happen… at least I found them interesting haha
