After a wild bet, gourmet grilled-cheese sandwich, and cuddle with a baby goat, Alexis Montgomery has had her world turned upside down. The cause: Daniel Grant, a ridiculously hot carpenter who’s ten years younger than her and as casual as they come—the complete opposite of sophisticated city-girl Alexis. And yet their chemistry is undeniable.
While her ultra-wealthy parents want her to carry on the family legacy of world-renowned surgeons, Alexis doesn’t need glory or fame. She’s fine with being a “mere” ER doctor. And every minute she spends with Daniel and the tight-knit town where he lives, she’s discovering just what’s really important. Yet letting their relationship become anything more than a short-term fling would mean turning her back on her family and giving up the opportunity to help thousands of people.
Bringing Daniel into her world is impossible, and yet she can’t just give up the joy she’s found with him either. With so many differences between them, how can Alexis possibly choose between her world and his?
⤖ My Review ⬻
I’ve read everything Abby Jimenez has published so far! There is something that draws me to her stories, and I will happily continue to read them until the end of time. I will admit that I wasn’t completely sold on the synopsis for Part of Your World right away—although for the life of me I couldn’t tell you why—but every time I came across the title I just felt more and more drawn to it.
Now, having read it, I’m very very happy that I chose not to skil this Jimenez book (for whatever reason)! Part of Your World made me feel so many things—there were characters and situations that I loved, and on the flipside, there were characters and situations that I loathed. I could never bring myself to throw a book at a wall, or anywhere really, but some of the characters in this one almost pushed me to it.
I also laughed and cried, and “aaaw”d and probably swore…this seems to be the case with Jimenez’ books for me, so I wasn’t too surprised. What I was surprised by—happily so—was Daniel’s similarities to my fiance. I guess I just didn’t expect that a character who is the younger one in an age gap romance would give me that vibe when I’ve read so many other books with characters who sounded like they’d give off that vibe…
Needless to say, this only made me feel more invested in Part of Your World and really carved out a space in my heart for Daniel. I rooted for Alexis and Daniel so hard! And I will admit that I was in quite a bit of distress because I couldn’t figure out how Jimenez was going to resolve everything in this one. What an adventure. This is definitely one of my favourites by Jimenez!
