Musing Mondays (#11)

monday (1).jpg

Yay for Musing Mondays making Mondays feel more bearable! And I also wanted to take a moment to thank Ambrosia from The Purple Booker, for taking over the Musing Mondays weekly meme from Books and Beat (who has decided to close her blog). Thank you so much for hosing this meme for so long, Books and Beat and we’re sad to see you go!

ezgif-1545491241For those of you who don’t know, Musing Mondays is hosted by the awesome Ambrosia every Monday. This is a book blog meme where participants have to answer one of the pre-set prompts of (I’m currently reading…; Up next I think I’ll read…; I bought the following book(s) in the past week…; I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…; I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…; I can’t wait to get a copy of…; I wish I could read ___, but…; OR I blogged about ____ this past week…). And you also have to answer an additional random question which is different every week!

This week I’ll be answering one of the weekly prompts, before answering the random question for this week…

I’M SUPER EXCITED TO TELL YOU ABOUT:

Some exciting giveaway wins!

18584855I enter a lot of book giveaways, to then point where it sometimes becomes exhausting. But it’s all worth it, because sometimes I do win! And recently I really hit the jackpot, because I won three books in one giveaway. The awesome Wendy on Instagram hosted a giveaway in which one winner would win a copy of Heartless, a copy of Labyrinth Lost, and possibly another Labyrinth-Lost-Final-Coverbook if there were to be room in the package. I was lucky enough to win the giveaway, and not only won Heartless and Labyrinth Lost, but also an ARC of Ever the Hunted! I’d been trying to get a physical ARC of Ever the Hunted, but was told that there were none available anymore. So this was a very awesome bonus for me. Also, I’m of course very very excited about Heartless and Labyrinth Lost as they are two of the most beautiful book designs in YA of 2016! I have 28114396read and reviewed Labyrinth Lost, but I’d read a digital version and had been wanting to buy a physical hardcover version. I would also definitely re-read it as well. As for Heartless…I have read Cinder and Scarlet by Marissa Meyer before and I really enjoyed them. I know that I will definitely finish reading The Lunar Chronicles, and I am also very excited about Heartless!

And also, Calendar Girls!

I know that I already talked about this last Monday, but I’m just really excited about this blog event! Some months ago, fellow blogger Melanie and I had decided that we wanted to host a monthly blog event together! And since that time we have worked together to come up with an event which we think will be fun and engaging not only for us, but all of our other participants! When Melanie recommended that we base the event on, or let ourselves be inspired by Neil Sedaka’s 1961 song Calendar Girl, I was all for it. Therefore, our event will have a specific theme each month, which participants will use to select the book which they will discuss! Ps. book selections are to be kept secret until we post our reveals every first Wednesday of each month! For more details, check our my launch post, and Melanie’s launch post!

Or if what I’ve mentioned so far already sounds pretty awesome to you, you can skip that step and either comment at the bottom of either of our launch posts that you’d like to join, and/or sign up for the newsletter directly from here!

And now I will be answering this week’s random question:

Does reading help you to release stress during stressful times? I it does do you have a favorite book that you return to for calm?

tumblr_nv2nukup7x1uefxi4o1_500Oh, I definitely read to release stress! I read in general for the experience itself, but I especially appreciate the escape which books provide when I am going through a hard time. And I would not say that I return to any one book when I am stressed, as I do not often re-read books to begin with. In my opinion, there are too many good books and such little time anyway, so I try not to fill that time up with book I’ve already read, unless I really really really enjoyed them.

THANK YOU FOR READING MY POST! PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE IN MELANIE AND I’S BLOG EVENT IN THE COMMENTS BELOW, OR IN ANY OF THE OTHER RELATED POSTS! ALSO, DO YOU FEEL AS IF READING HELPS YOU RELEASE STRESS? AND IF SO, DO YOU HAVE A GO-TO BOOK FOR THIS? OR NO? LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS BELOW!

  1. Thank you for making the move over! Congrats on the fantastic looking giveaway wins too! There really are so many books and to little time isn’t there? Sometimes I wish I could press pause on time in general read a heap of books and then hit play again. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much! I do feel incredibly lucky! And oh no! That’s terrible 🙁 I’m so sorry that happened. That’s always my worry with giveaway parcels… 🙁 I feel terrible now.
