They say living well is the best revenge. But sometimes, spreading the misery seems a whole lot more satisfying. That’s interior designer Dani Porter’s justification for buying the vacant lot next to her ex-fiancé’s house…the house they were supposed to live in together, before he cheated on her with their Realtor. Dani plans to build a vacation rental that will a) mess with his view and his peace of mind and b) prove that Dani is not someone to be stepped on. Welcome to project Spite House.
That plan quickly becomes complicated when Dani is forced to team up with Wyatt Montego, the handsome, haughty architect at her firm, and the only person available to draw up blueprints. Wyatt is terse and stern, the kind of man who eats his sandwich with a knife and fork. But as they spend time together on- and off-site, Dani glimpses something deeper beneath that hard veneer, something surprising, vulnerable, and real. And the closer she gets to her goal, the more she wonders if winning revenge could mean losing something infinitely sweeter…

I think that I forgot the synopsis of Love at First Spite between first hearing about it and picking it up because what I thought the premise was and what it turned out being were completely different. This is not a bad thing in the least! I found the story to be quite enjoyable and I liked being surprised at every turn!
I really liked the concept of Love at First Spite , having never read this exact type of story before, and I was also excited for all of the potential situations the characters could find themselves in…and let me tell you, the author did not hold back on said situations! It was so satisfying!
The characters were dynamic and had substance–you could tell that the author, Anna E. Collins really gave them thought and developed them before they made it onto the page. I also found the chemistry between the two leads to be quite satisfying as well! I swear, at times, there were sparks flying out of the pages!
Overall, Love at First Spite was a quick, and fun read! I listened to parts of it in audiobook format, alongside reading the physical ARC I was provided, and found that the narrator was great for the type of story! I recommend Love at First Spite in both formats!
