Timid Tadano is a total wallflower, and that’s just the way he likes it. But all that changes when he finds himself alone in a classroom on the first day of high school with the legendary Komi. He quickly realizes she isn’t aloof—she’s just super awkward. Now he’s made it his mission to help her on her quest to make 100 friends!

⤖ My Review ⬻

I remember that Komi Can’t Communicate was part of the Indigo Preview that I attended last spring, and I also remember that one of my fellow bloggers also highly recommended it (sorry I forgot which blogger or I’d tag you)! Based on the cover, this is not the typical manga that I would go for, so I’m so glad that it was recommended to me since it convinced me to pick it up. I’m also glad because I loved it. Based on the synopsis and the way in which the cover is laid out, I expected a certain kind of story (serious, romantic, a little dark)…but I found that I was wrong!

I actually laughed out loud a few times and found it to be mostly cute! Oh, I was also jealous of how gorgeous Komi is, haha. I was also surprised by how the story in Komi Can’t Communicate was told from Tadano’s (the character in the background of the book cover) perspective. But I found that I liked him too and how his relationship with Komi and other characters developed. I also find that I enjoyed the art style a lot too even though I wasn’t originally drawn to the style when I saw it on the cover. This is definitely a manga series that I’ll continue reading!
