Korey Fields is dead.

When Enchanted Jones wakes with blood on her hands and zero memory of the previous night, no one—the police and Korey’s fans included—has more questions than she does. All she really knows is that this isn’t how things are supposed to be. Korey was Enchanted’s ticket to stardom.

Before there was a dead body, Enchanted was an aspiring singer, struggling with her tight knit family’s recent move to the suburbs while trying to find her place as the lone Black girl in high school. But then legendary R&B artist Korey Fields spots her at an audition. And suddenly her dream of being a professional singer takes flight.

Enchanted is dazzled by Korey’s luxurious life but soon her dream turns into a nightmare. Behind Korey’s charm and star power hides a dark side, one that wants to control her every move, with rage and consequences. Except now he’s dead and the police are at the door. Who killed Korey Fields?

All signs point to Enchanted.

⤖ My Review ⬻

Where do I even begin with this book? Maybe…like with many other books, I’ll start with the cover since that was my first interaction with Grown. The moment I saw the main character, Enchanted, on the cover…I became invested in her wellbeing. Her eyes conveyed so much while simultaneously making me ask many many questions. Pair that with the amazing synopsis, and you get a bok that I just had to read in order to see see what happened to this beautiful young woman. Going in, I had no idea what to expect as I hadn’t read anything by Tiffany D. Jackson before. Fast forward–I started reading and then finished Grown in under 24 hours! I also read it almost 2 months ago (I’m behind on reviews) and thinking about it still makes my heart clench.

From the moment I finished reading the first page, I was hooked on Grown. I knew what was coming because of the synopsis and was dying (no pun intended) to find out how events led to such a development. I was literally on the edge of my seat, flying through the pages. I’m pretty sure I was sweating and biting my nails (I never bite my nails). My boyfriend also mentioned that there was muttering and a lot of facial expressions. It hurts me to think that what happened to Enchanted happens to so many girls and women every day. And I’ll have to stop here before I give too much away. I highly recommend this book–just be sure to have some kleenex ready and be aware of the triggers. (P.s. the audiobook is also pretty good!) I plan on reading every single one of Tiffany D. Jackson’s books now, and cannot wait for her to publish her next book!

  1. I found this book gripping and hard to put fown since I like you was immediately drawn into Enchanted’s well being. My first title by this author and I have since read another.
