Happy Friday Junior, everyone! I’m happy to have been able to write and post another fun Down the TBR Hole post for you guys! And who am I kidding? Making posts for this meme has been very productive for me as well! I mean, can you think of a more entertaining way to clean up your crazy TBR shelf? Keep reading to see which books will be staying, and which will be going this week!
For those of you hearing about this meme for the first time, here’s some more info from the blog of the creator, Lia @ Lost in a Story:
Down The TBR Hole is a meme that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when you’re scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well that’s going to change!
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
Lynn Flewelling’s Hidden Warrior
This book is the sequel to one of my favourite books The Bone Doll’s Twin, and has been on my TBR for quite some time. I think that I’ve owned the book for almost just as long. I really need to buckle down and finish this dark fantasy series soon! It’s:
Maggie Stiefvater’s Lament
I’ve only read one Maggie Stiefvater book, but I loved it. Debating on whether to keep this book on my TBR is, therefore, quite difficult for me. On one hand, the Stiefvater book that I read was her most recent, and the writing might therefore be at its best and/or most maturest. I’ve also seen mixed reviews for this one. But on the other hand, I love books about fairy! So, it’s:
Jessica Khoury’s The Forbidden Wish
I bought this book off Book Depository during their Boxing Day sale at the end of 2017. It’s been on my TBR for quite some time, and I’m still very intrigued by the story, as well as the high ratings it’s been receiving since it was published. Therefore, it’s:
Sara Saedi’s Never Ever
I’m not sure about this one. Not many people seem to have read it, but the story sound intriguing. It also sounds like it could turn out awful. I also don’t know when I would ever get around to reading this book, especially since I don’t own it, and I try not to buy books unless I really want them. So, it’ll be:
Jen P. Nyugen’s The Way to Game the Walk of Shame
The cover of this book is what first caught my attention, and the next thing was the title. It shocked me a little, to be honest, because a lot of YA is so PG sometimes. I love YA, don’t get me wrong, but for a grown adult like me, it’s somtimes a little too PG. This book is:
I don’t know why I held my breath when scrolling & seeing Forbidden wish cause I haven’t read it yet but I do know its’ Aladdin inspired…Ok so I do know! LOL I NEED to read anything Aladdin inspired #jussayin 😉
Hehehe yeah I’m glad I kept it! And I’m glad I’m not the only one who hasn’t read it yet 😛 and I don’t think I’ve ever READ anything Aladdin inspired…so that’s sad…wow
Same here & I Aladdin is my fave Disney movie of all time (then comes Lion King lol)
Oooooo that’s good to know! I feel like we have close to no re-tellings for those ones 🙁 although …The Lion King is a retelling of Hamlet (I think), haha so we have some retellings for THAT.
It is?!?! Well that’s good to know
Yeahhh! Hehe. I checked. https://owlcation.com/humanities/Similarities-Between-The-Lion-King-and-Hamlet
