TGIF, everyone! As you may have noticed, I have moved my Down the TBR Hole posts from Thursdays to Fridays (and I think that I posted them on Wednesdays occasionally too? I’m not sure … my memory is not what it once was, haha). But anyway, the reason for the move is that Milana from A Couple Reads and myself started hosting a book meme called Backlist Blast on Thursdays. I’ve been having a lot of fun with Down the TBR Hole, and I’m glad that I can still participate, cause I mean, can you think of a more entertaining way to clean up your crazy TBR shelf? Keep reading to see which books will be staying, and which will be going this week!
For those of you hearing about this meme for the first time, here’s some more info from the blog of the creator, Lia @ Lost in a Story:
Down The TBR Hole is a meme that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when you’re scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well that’s going to change!
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
Carsten Jensen’s We, the Drowned
Until reading the synopsis for this book again on Goodreads, I didn’t even have a clue that this book was adult fiction rather than YA. Its rating average on there is also quite promising (as well as the amount of ratings and reviews to go with said rating average). Therefore, this book is:
Alwyn Hamilton’s Rebel of the Sands
I was really excited about this book when it first came out, and I got my hands on a second-hand copy. Before that, I also read and reviewed a sneak peek through NetGalley! But once I had the book, I just never picked it up to read it. I guess that I haven’t been in the right mood? Alas, this book will be:
Ruta Sepetys’ Salt to the Sea
I actually won a copy of this book late last year, and I was over the moon! I read and reviewed a sneak peek for this book through NetGalley in 2016 as well, and loved the sample that we were given. This book is definitely getting read this year, so it’s:
Elise Kova’s Air Awakens
Air Awakens has been on my TBR for some time now, before Kova’s Loom Saga series even started coming out! I had an e-book version, but just never got around to reading it. A good friend of mine gifted me a physical copy not too long ago, though, so no more excuses! It’ll be:
Alexandra Bracken’s Passenger
This was one of the first books that I bought after starting this blog. Despite money being tight, I really had to get my hands on this book. I’d been seeing it everywhere, it’s super photogenic, and the story sounds amazing! But, sadly, it’s just been sitting on my shelf ever since. I’m awful! Because I will be reading Passenger this year, it’ll be:
They all have such beautiful covers. I would have a hard time letting go of them, too. 🙂
Right?! This week’s books really are quite pretty, aren’t they? Their interiors AND exteriors maybe played equal parts in convincing me to keep them 😉
Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys is on my TBR too.
The sample I read was SO GOOD! I don’t usually read WWI or WWII books, but I’m just really drawn to this one.
I hope we both end of liking it!
Same! 🙂
Oh thank you, this post reminded me that Passenger existed, I forgot about that book until just now… oops. It sounds so good though, I’ll have to read it at some point as well 🙂 Lovely post! 🙂 x
Hahaha don’t worry, I’d forgotten about it until writing this post! I hope that we both get to read it soon 🙂 and thank you! <3
