I’ve been wanting to do this tag for some time now, but I was either busy with other tags or events, or he timing just wasn’t right for it. Now, that the weather is starting to cool, I’ve started thinking more and more about hot drinkies. I mean, who doesn’t like hot drinkies when it’s cold out?! They’re definitely a special treat. I will definitely agree with Paper Fury on this one, in selecting The Game of Thrones series for this one. I’m nearly finished the first book in the series, but it took me a very long time, and I still haven’t actually gotten to the end yet. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve seen season 1 of the TV series version multiple times and therefore know what happens, or if it’s just that tough for me to get into. I love high fantasy, and have read more difficult texts like the The Lord of the Rings series though. I guess it’ll remain a mystery.

Well…the prompt said to name a book, rather than name a book that I’ve read. I thought about this one, and I find that I really like to read supernatural books when it’s closer to Halloween. But, then realized that I kinda like supernatural books most times of the year. So, that wouldn’t work. Then I realized the wording of the prompt, and decided that I’ll just go with Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. I haven’t read it yet, but it is a very Christmas-themed, and I plan on reading it this Winter!

I normally I choose Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone or The Black Stallion for this kind of question, but today I’ll go with The Hobbit! I don’t remember how hold I was when I first read it, but I know that I was very very young, and that I loved it. I may have been in grade school. But anyway, it remains one of my favourite books of all time. It’s just so simple, and so complex at the same time. I also like the fairytale feel of it in comparison to the The Lord of the Rings series.

For this one I’ll go with the most recent book that’s kept me on the edge of my seat, and also one of my new all time favourites….Nevernight! I feel like I talk about this book a lot (in my blog posts and in actual conversations). But I did absolutely LOVE it, and I cannot wait for the second part of the series. I’m worried that it’ll take a few years, but I really really hope not. I highly recommend it to those who like high fantasy, and highly complex worlds!

It’s probably because this book came out a few days ago, but I see it everywhere! I keep meaning to start reading this series, and I own the first two books, but I just haven’t had time. I may have to stop signing up for ARCs and just binge-read it. I should really finish the Lunar Chronicles series too. But anyway! Yes, this book is everywhere. And it, as well as the series as a whole, sound very very good. If it’s anything like the A Court of Thorns and Roses series (also by Maas), I know that I’ll love it.

The first book that comes to mind is Little Nothingby Marisa Silver! I was contacted by the publisher to read and review this book by the end of the month, and it should arrive in the mail any day now! I am very excited, not only because this is the first ARC I’ll be receiving from a Penguin imprint, but also because it sounds very very good. I am extremely excited to read this book!

I feel really bad for listing this book here. But I really was expecting more from it. Maybe my taste in literature with Victorian settings has been spoiled by Victorian classic novels. I mean, nothing beats that kind of writing. In my opinion anyway. Well, maybe I’ll liste two books here, since they’re both with a Victorian setting, and they both disappointed me recently.

I’ll have to go with the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, although the series isn’t over it, it’s the only one that comes to mind right now, and for me it was bitter yet satisfying. I really liked the setting, the characters, the story. But there were parts which were definitely bitter, and then other parts which were unbelievably sweet. It’s definitely a series I would read again, and I don’t re-read books very often.

I will go with Memoirs of a Geisha for this one. I read it in high school for a project, and while I may have been too young for it at the time, I remember reading gobbling it up, word for word. It really stuck with me, and I may have to read it again soon, because I know that I will definitely see it in a different light. I’m just worried that I may like it less the second time around. This is a must read for everyone!

I didn’t want to do doubles, but I really have to go with this series again here. Yes, it’s a violent place, but it is also quite beautiful. And it’s definitely far off, because it’s not real, haha. I hope it counts! Otherwise, I can’t think of any other series that make me dream of far off places. There have been some that have made me travel, but I guess they were not impressionable enough for me to remember them. Woops.

Oh goodness me. This is a tough tough tough one. I really love the classics, but there are things I love about some classic novels, and some things that I hate. Therefore, it’s really difficult for me to put these books in any sort of range such as ‘favourites’. But, for the sake of this tag, I suppose that I will choose A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, even though it broke my heart into a million pieces. I would have liked a deeper connection with the characters, such as Jane in Jane Eyre, but I didn’t pick that book for this tag because I’m not the biggest fan of that ending.
