Welcome to the second Calendar Girls read-a-long, and the very first read-a-long which I am personally hosting! We are still trying to figure out the best way these read-a-longs will work for Melanie and myself, as well as (of course) the participants, so I would appreciate any feedback you may have! You can either leave your thoughts in the comments below, or contact me privately through my Contact page! If this is the first time you are hearing about Calendar Girls, it is a monthly blogging event which is a lot of fun! For more details, please go to my info page about Calendar Girls!

The book which we will be reading together in August is

*drum roll*

My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows!

22840421

Title: My Lady Jane
Author: Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows
Type: Fiction
Genre: YA, Historical, Fantasy, Romance
Imprint: HarperTeen
Publisher: HarperCollins
Date published: June 7, 2016 (hardcover)
May 9, 2017 (paperback)
Format: Paperback
Page Count: 494

Synopsis: Edward (long live the king) is the King of England. He’s also dying, which is inconvenient, as he’s only sixteen and he’d much rather be planning for his first kiss than considering who will inherit his crown…

Jane (reads too many books) is Edward’s cousin, and far more interested in books than romance. Unfortunately for Jane, Edward has arranged to marry her off to secure the line of succession. And there’s something a little odd about her intended…

Gifford (call him G) is a horse. That is, he’s an Eðian (eth-y-un, for the uninitiated). Every day at dawn he becomes a noble chestnut steed—but then he wakes at dusk with a mouthful of hay. It’s all very undignified.

The plot thickens as Edward, Jane, and G are drawn into a dangerous conspiracy. With the fate of the kingdom at stake, our heroes will have to engage in some conspiring of their own. But can they pull off their plan before it’s off with their heads?

    1. YAY! I hope that you are able to and that you’ll join us! It’d been on my TBR for like ever too, and I’m so happy that I finally have the chance to read it.

    1. I’m sorryyyy I know that’s not how you read! You could always read it at your own pace and then just come back to discuss the different sections throughout the month? That’s possible too, and others might do this as well.

      1. That’s a thought. And its okay because I know the majority of the group needed a longer time frame, and I am up for trying new things so I can participate!! Totally not complaining. I have recently figured out how to read two books at once and I never thought I would be able to lol. This will be something new 🙂

  1. Considering that I keep debating on whether or not I want to read this book, joining this read-a-long is rather tempting. I’ll think about it a bit more before I actually make up my mind though.

  2. I’d love to participate in this! Can I do it without having a Twitter account? (I submitted the form already but I just wanted to check)

    1. Yes, of course you can join without having a Twitter account! That was just part of the form so that I have a list of everyone and know who is who, where…haha. So happy to have you join!! 😀

    1. Awe that’s too bad! Some of us don’t own the book either, but are borrowing it from the library (if that helps) hehe. We’d love for you to join us! 🙂

      1. I don’t think libraries in my country would have this, I bet it’s not even translated 😀 (libraries don’t stock many English books here, and never new ones.) Maybe I’ll join you another time! 🙂

  3. Oh wooow an English Lit prof! *stares in awe* No wonder you’re trying to get through those ARCs! And finishing a PhD too. Wow. Busy busy. Best of luck with everything, and happy reading! ❤❤
