After the way that things ended in the second book of the Wish Quartet (Circle of Ashes), I was definitely looking forward to Birth of Chaos quite a bit! I had to find out where things were going to go, and how the story would develop before the fourth book (a.k.a. the end of the series). Luckily, the Wish Quartet books are published every few months or so, rather than one book per year, so the wait wasn’t very long. Even with the wait being so short, however, Birth of Chaos was definitely worth the wait because it answered a lot of questions! It obviously didn’t wrap up the story, because it was not the final book in the series, but it certainly made a lot of things a lot more clear.

Also, I did not predict any of what happened in this book! Kova and Larsh definitely kept me guessing, and I absolutely loved that! I was also happy that there was a dash of romance snuck in here and there (though I hope that there will be just a little bit more of it in the next book! Hehe)! That being said, I think that I liked the steamy bits in Birth of Chaos the most out of all three of the books that are out so far. I found that I also liked the plot, as well as the overarching plot for the series, more in this book because of the pacing, and also because a lot more made sense after some things were unveiled! I am definitely going to be reading the last book in the Wish Quartet, and am very much looking forward to seeing how the story develops and wraps up for Jo and her friends!

– About the Authors –

Elise Kova is the USA Today bestselling author of the Air Awakens series, Loom Saga, and Wish Quartet. In her past lives, she has graduated from an MBA program, lived in Japan for a bit, and worked for a Fortune 500 technology company. However, she finds herself much happier in her current reincarnation as full-time author. When not writing, she can usually be found playing video games, drawing, watching anime, or talking with readers on social media. She’s happy to call Saint Petersburg, Florida, her home, but is always looking forward to her next trip.

Lynn Larsh considers herself to be a serial hobby-dabbler. She got a bachelors degree in music (which she used for all of four months), studied aerial acrobatics and classical piano for many years, worked briefly as a stunt woman in a Wild West stunt show (it’s a long story), and eventually settled down into the bar tending business in St. Petersberg, FL. When she’s not acting as a purveyor of fine libations, you can find her diving head first into her newest venture as a New Adult author, or simply writing Voltron fan fiction on Archive of Our Own. Currently, Lynn is looking forward to her debut novel, SOCIETY OF WISHES (Wish Quartet, #1), out Jan. 2018.

  1. Wow, I definitely need to start this series–this looks great! I love when plot points have a payoff and you suddenly love something you were only “meh” about. Great review!
