Bear can’t find his glasses. He must have left them at Giraffe’s house.
On the way over, Bear sees all kinds of animals he didn’t notice last time: an elephant, a crocodile, a flamingo, a deer. And who’s this long spotty snake lying on Giraffe’s deckchair?
The patient Giraffe finds Bear’s glasses―right where glasses always get lost, perched on his head. Then Bear takes Giraffe to meet these wondrous animals that he found on the way.
Leo Timmers’ details are full of expression and humor―the angle of Giraffe’s neck and lift of his eyebrows, hiding his skepticism as he helps his friend, the dear, artless bear.
Through an ingenious telling of this classic comical situation, Leo Timmers shows us how to enjoy the world through different eyes.
⤖ My Review ⬻
I’ve been wearing glasses since the fifth grade, so when Bear’s Lost Glasses—a children’s book focused on a bear losing his glasses—came across my radar, I just knew that I had to read and review it. The fun illustration style on the cover also played a helping role in convincing me! Speaking of the cover, it also indicates how exactly the bear “lost” his glasses…by placing them on his head and forgetting about them. While this hasn’t happened to me—yet—I’ve been around grandparents when it happened to them, and it made me smile, reminiscing about them.
Diving into Bear’s Lost Glasses, I was glad to see the fun illustrations continued on the interior, and I found myself laughing from the first few pages because of what happens and also the fun manner in which these occurrences are told. I had quite my share of giggles by the last page and can’t wait to read Bear’s Lost Glasses again with a little one (or multiple little ones) at my side.
