#ARCstravaganza (#32): Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston

Happy Monday everyone! And also happy #ARCstravaganza day! The book that I’m featuring for #ARCstravaganza this week is one that I wished for before it was announced. So it’s like a wish come true to me! Some of you may know that I read Geekerella by Ashley Poston last year, and that I absolutely loved it. Well, in that book, a fandom that is talked about is one from a ficticious science fiction TV show! I really liked the science giction world that Poston created in that book, and wanted more of it. And it’s as if she read my mind, because this (her second) book, is a science fiction one, and I cannot wait to dive in! Heart of Iron comes out tomorrow, so y’all still have time to pre-order!

For those of you coming across this meme for this first time, it was originally created by Krysti at YA and Wine, and hosted by her, and Sarah at The Clever Reader. Due to personal circumstances, however, they have had to let it go. We were all very sad to see the meme go, but then Krysti asked me if I wanted to take it over, and I said yes!

For those of you unfamiliar with #ARCstravaganza, it’s a meme meant to encourage book bloggers to show off and discuss their ARCs (advanced reader copies)! If this sounds like something for you, please check out the info page about the meme here. Another change is that #ARCstravaganza participants can share their posts on their blogs, Instagram, or Twitter (or all three)! Please just be sure to tag your social media posts with the hashtag, or share a link to your blog post on my blog post for each week, so that we can find it!

Seventeen-year-old Ana is a scoundrel by nurture and an outlaw by nature. Found as a child drifting through space with a sentient android called D09, Ana was saved by a fearsome space captain and the grizzled crew she now calls family. But D09—one of the last remaining illegal Metals—has been glitching, and Ana will stop at nothing to find a way to fix him.

Ana’s desperate effort to save D09 leads her on a quest to steal the coordinates to a lost ship that could offer all the answers. But at the last moment, a spoiled Ironblood boy beats Ana to her prize. He has his own reasons for taking the coordinates, and he doesn’t care what he’ll sacrifice to keep them.

When everything goes wrong, she and the Ironblood end up as fugitives on the run. Now their entire kingdom is after them—and the coordinates—and not everyone wants them captured alive.

What they find in a lost corner of the universe will change all their lives—and unearth dangerous secrets. But when a darkness from Ana’s past returns, she must face an impossible choice: does she protect a kingdom that wants her dead or save the Metal boy she loves?

    1. I know what you mean! I like some sci-fi, but I’m a lot more tempted by some of the re-tellings. Like the Lunar Chronicles (Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Snow White in space)! Or another one coming out this year, Brightly Burning, which is Jane Eyre in space! And thanks so much 🙂

      1. The Lunar Chronicles is actually the only sci-fi I like. The retelling aspect is really fun, and it’s light on the science, so it’s easy to understand. I hadn’t heard of Brightly Burning, I’m going to have to check it out! You’re welcome.
