“Turn to Page 394” Thursdays (#4)

ezgif-2335726244Oh. Em. Gee. This is my fourth “Turn to Page 394” Thursday post! Has it been that long? I haven’t even posted every single week since I started this, haha. Busy-ness….laziness…You know. But, on this Thursday I shall not fail at creating this post, because Harry Potter and the Cursed Child comes out THIS SUNDAY!

This is already a Harry Potter themed meme, but I decided to make it even more Harry-Potter-y by selecting the last Harry Potter adventure which was published before Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Harry_Potter_and_the_Cursed_Child_Special_Rehearsal_Edition_Book_CoverBut first, a little more about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child! I pre-ordered it early this morning, when I couldn’t get back to sleep after my boyfriend left for work at 6:30 AM. Haha. I was going to order it anyway, but yeah. Maybe I was very very weak in that moment…because I told myself that I would not buy any new books until I’m done reading my entire TBR pile!

But yes, this book sounds really cool!

Summary: It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted.  As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

It’ll be different because it’s a script, rather than a novel, but for me it’s the story that counts. And I cannot wait for this story!

IMG_20160728_102042Alright, and back to “Turn to Page 394” Thursday! For those of you who don’t know, “Turn to Page 394” Thursdays is a blog hop created by me, in order to honour a great actor (Alan Rickman), as well as a great character (Severus Snape). Since Alan Rickman left this world on a Thursday, that is the day on which I have chosen to host this blog hop! You can see more details in my initial post here.

How does it work? You pick a book (that’s long enough, of course), turn to page 394 in that book, and post a passage, or the whole page (whichever you think will be more interesting), and then discuss it! I’ve been having fun with it, and all are welcome to join! Just share the link to your “Turn to Page 394” Thursday post in the comments below, and share the button for the blog hop in your post (not required, but it would make me happy!)

And now I’ll just dive right in!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!

Yer a wizard, Harry.

dh-uk-kids-jacket-artSorry. Just…the nostalgia!

Alright, so Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!  …which I have not yet finished reading. Yes, I know. Blasphemy. If some of you haven’t seen my rant about this yet, here goes.

I bought this book on the day it came out. I waited in line for hours, bought it with the pocket money I’d saved up. I got home and began reading it, but responsibilities took me away from it, and before I knew it, it was time for bed because I had school very early in the morning.

The next day, when I turned my computer on and was automatically logged into MSN (yes this was back in the day, haha), I saw that one of my “very good friends” updated their status. And before I could stop my eyes from reading it all…I found that she had posted each and every single full name of the characters who died in book 7.

ezgif-72644844.gifI was LIVID. And traumatized. I did not expect to see those name, and I could not un-see them. It had ruined my whole experience with the book.

I tried reading it again about a year ago, but only made it to Hedwig’s death before I started bawling my eyes out and had to set it down. Maybe I’ll try again soon, see what happens, but I’m not too hopeful.

Anyway, I decided to use this book for today’s post, despite the fact that I have not finished it, because I have watched the last two Harry Potter films about a million times, and it seems like this section of the book is the same as the movie version? Please correct me if I’m wrong!

So, here we go. Page 394 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:

Tumblr_mg6o4nMu3j1rlr2dlo10_r3_250“I need to break into a Gringotts vault.”
Harry had not meant to say it so badly: the words were forced from him as pain shot through his lightning scar and he saw, again, the outline of Hogwarts. 417 He closed his mind firmly. He needed to deal with Griphook first. Ron and Hermione were staring at Harry as though he had gone mad.
“Harry—” said Hermione, but she was cut off by Griphook.
“Break into a Gringotts vault?” repeated the goblin, wincing a little as he shifted his position upon the bed. “It is impossible.”

“Yeah,” said Harry. “The same day I first met you, Griphook. My birthday, seven years ago.”
“The vault in question was empty at the time,” snapped the goblin, and Harry understood that even though Griphook had let Gringotts, he was offended at the idea of its defenses being breached. “Its protection was minimal.”
“Well, the vault we need to get into isn’t empty, and I’m guessing its protection will be pretty powerful,” said Harry. “It belongs to the Lestranges.”
He saw Hermione and Ron look at each other, astonished, but there would be time enough to explain after Griphook had given his answer.
“You have no chance,” said Griphook flatly. “No chance at all. If you seek beneath our floors, a treasure that was never yours—
ezgif-485595663.gifThief, you have been warned, beware—yeah, I know, I remember,” said Harry. “But I’m not trying to get myself any treasure, I’m not trying to take anything for personal gain. Can you believe that?”
The goblin looked slantwise at Harry, and the lightning scar on Harry’s forehead prickled, but he ignored it, refusing to acknowledge its pain or its invitation.
“If there was a wizard of whom I would believe that they did not seek personal gain,” said Griphook finally, “it would be you, Harry Potter. Goblins and elves are not used to the protection or the respect that you have shown this night. Not from wand-carriers.”

Such a good set-up for what comes next! I’d forgotten how much I love J.K. Rowling’s writing. Maybe I will read this book sometime this year. Yeah. And again, this was such a nice fit  for this blog hop! I don’t know how this keeps happening, but every time I pick a book for this hop, the first one I pick and open on page 394…it’s just always a good part! I mean, how many times could it have been a very boring part of each of the books I’ve chosen so far! You can’t tell me that they have no boring, or at least slow, parts.

Well, thank you for joining me for this special “Turn to Page 394” Thursday post! And please, tell me…

Which was your favourite part of Harry Potter #7?!

Maybe it’ll convince me to read this book all the sooner! Leave your answers in the comments below, lovelies! And I can’t wait to read them!
