The Autumn Reading Tag

tumblr_o7rq1gd1ja1qhoe3vo1_500Thank you so much Christina for tagging me to do The Autumn Reading Tag! She tagged me to complete this tag on October 4th, but I haven’t had the time or energy to complete it until now. It’s been on my mind though, and I’ve really been looking forward to completing it! And so, I’ll get right into it!

Are there any books you plan on reading over the autumn season?

Oh definitely! I have already read:

Scarlet_Cover  Labyrinth-Lost-Final-Cover  51zmraeqzql-_sx321_bo1204203200_  orenchi_no_furo_jijo_manga_volume_cover  28589322  51p-iypzdjl  9780399167928  swarm-cover-small

since the start of September. And for the rest of Fall, I will be reading (or am already reading):

              pumpkin-3

September brings back school memories: what book did you most enjoy studying? And what were your favourite and least favourite school subjects?

I most enjoyed studying A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. Oh the benefits of having been an English Literature major for my Bachelor’s and my Master’s degrees, haha!

My favourite school subject was (and this is obvious to me, but may not be to others) English! And my least favourite subject was usually Math! Except the one year, I had a really good teacher who actually managed to teach me Algebra, and I was one of the top students in his class.

tumblr_ndvadghauc1tg0kfio1_500October means Halloween: Do you enjoy scary books and films? If so what are some of your favourites?

I’m one of those people who has a love-hate relationship with horror films and books. I really love the thrill, and I love the idea of being freaked out by both. But once I’m actually watching or reading such a film or book, I usually regret it. I get nightmares, and often find myself waking up with the light turned on, without my remembering having woken up to turn it on, haha. I guess I’m masochistic though, because once the effects of a horror film or book wears off, I go right back to watching or reading them!

With November it’s time for Bonfire Night & firework displays. What’s the most exciting book you’ve ever read that really kept you gripped?

This is a tough question, and I will have to take a look at my Goodreads “read” bookshelf, so I can jog my memory. And now that I’ve done that, I think that I’ll have to say Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins! I read the The Hunger Games trilogy in 2 days, and I remember the third book being the most gripping. My knuckles were white almost the entire time  was reading it, and I refused to go to sleep until I finished it.

What book is your favourite cosy comfort read?

I really like curling up wrapped in a warm throw blanket, a hot cup of tea, and Jane Eyre, especially in the Fall. I actually can’t imagine reading that book during any other time of the year (probably due to most of the book taking place while it’s cold-ish, haha, who knows).

tumblr_ndwou3xq5g1txp8kjo1_500Curled up with a good book, what is your hot drink of choice?

My favourite Fall drink is usually a cup of pumpkin spice flavoured tea, cinnamon apple tea, or some warm milk. I also really enjoy a pumpkin spice latte, a cinnamon dolce, or a chai tea latte from Starbucks while I’m enjoying a good book. I’ve enjoyed those drinks also while studying for university, and they especially helped me get through some long nights while doing grad school.

Any plans you’re looking forward to over the next few months?

I’m not sure if this counts, since I’m already there, but I’ve been super excited about my trip to Romania! I am here now, visiting both sets of grandparents, and just immersing myself in the place that is my homeland. I am actually in my birth town now, in the heart of Transylvania, and I am very excited to visit our local castle sometime over the next week. Otherwise, I am of course also looking forward to going back home to my boyfriend, parents, sister, and puppy…while I’m also dreading all of the heartbreaking goodbyes which will also be inevitable.

  1. I love your answers! Wow, have an amazing time in Romania. That is so cool!
Since you said you need to read The Grisha Trilogy(under my post), I’ll say I need to read the Lunar Chronicles and I’ve had Cinder for months! I don’t know why I keep putting it off when I know I’ll probably love it.

    Happy reading!

    1. Thanks so much for your comment! And yes, you should definitely read Cinder, because it’s SO GOOD! I owned the first 3 books for a while as well, but only read the first 2 recently. I think because it’s a series and would therefore need more time devoted to it, can be a factor in why I’ve put it off…..and perhaps why you did too haha. But you’re more likely to know why, than me 😛

  2. Great answers! My favorite comfort read is still Harry Potter, so I guess I would chosen that, but I also don’t mind curling up with a good classic <3 And I love the cover of Clay Girl, I need to give this a closer look on goodreads…

    1. Thanks so much! And yes, Harry Potter would be a good comfort read! I would definitely have picked that one too, except that the series makes me very emotional, and would therefore not be very comforting for me 😛 haha
