If you have read my review for the first volume of this comic series, you will know that I absolutely loved it! As I mentioned in that previous review, the story is difficult to explain without giving anything away. And even if I were to explain it, I am not sure what I would categorize this story as, because I’m still quite unsure about certain elements within it. I have been left guessing, which is always a good thing for me, rather than something negative.

I was very happy to have the opportunity to read this chapter before it’s release (today!), and while most of you know that I always prefer physical copies of books to digital, asking for an issue of a comic book in print is impossible. Despite this, I have already devoured and reviewed issue #6 of this series, and also this issue (#7)! This issue of Snotgirl was also quite fun to read, and although the plot has progressed, I am still almost-frustratingly in the dark! What is going on?! Rather than making me stop reading this comic series, though, this just makes me more hungry for the next million issues! I love the dialogue, the multidimensional-ity of the characters, and of course, Leslie Hung’s art! Swoon!

That being said, I am not sure how I feel about the cover art for issues 6 and 7. They are darker, yes, since…well, I can’t really tell you. And I do appreciate that the cover images are in keeping with the mood, but I absolutely loved the covers for issues 1-5! The colours just popped, and really highlighted Hung’s artistic skill, as well as the aesthetic quality of the art featured on the covers. But you can see for yourselves below (click each individual image to see it in its actual size):

Plot-wise, things haven’t really moved much from the previous issue, but I know that reading a comic issue-by-issue is different from reading a comic volume-by-volume. I am happy to be able to read these issues as they are coming out, and I’m being patient (by waiting for the next one), but not being patient at the same time (because I can’t just wait for the full 2nd volume to come out before I read it all, haha)! November (the release of the next issue) feels very very very far away right now! Ah!
