#ReadThemAllThon Update (#3)

pokemon-reading.gifIt’s time for another #ReadThemAllThon update, which means that I’ve finished another book! Also, for those of you who don’t know about it, #ReadThemAllThon is a readathon which is Pokémon / Pokémon GO themed!

For info about the readathon, you can read my sign up post for it here. As you may know (if you’ve read my last two updates), I had a bit of a wonky start due to not having finished Nevernight when the tumblr_nnfzkzDz9k1tugqqno1_400readathon started, and then suffering from an intense book hangover afterward. I managed to push through, though, and read This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab at a relatively okay speed, all things considered. Haha. I finished and reviewed This Savage Song, and then moved on to Ghostly Echoes by William Ritter.

I then had another setback, when I happend to go cottaging / camping for 3 days, and had absolutely no time to read! Thus, I fell behind again. Luckily though, I had at least 1 day last week where I could read for a few solid hours, and I finished and reviewed Ghostly Echoes, also last week. I now have my Marsh Badge and my Cascade Badge! I was also able to evolve Pikachu into Raichu!

I do miss my Pikachu, but am happy to see how nicely Raichu is developing (he is at 574 CP now)! I am also getting quite attached to him!

Labyrinth-Lost-Final-CoverAs those of you who read my last update know, I started reading the book which I selected to read in order to earn the Boulder Badge, Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Córdova, last week. I was away over the weekend though, and because we were staying in a cabin as well as spending a lot of time on the beach, I didn’t want to chance bringing my Kobo and having it stolen.

cinder-book-coverI therefore decided to read another of the books which I selected for #ReadThemAllThon in stead…Cinder by Marissa Meyer! I figured that no one would bother stealing a paperback, and as it happens…I was right! I was also able to finish the book in three days! This may not sound too impressive for some of those quick readers out there, but considering how busy I was with activities and finding places to eat, etc., etc. …I think I did pretty good!

sticker,375x360I now also have my Soul Badge! Hurray! You can read my review for Cinder here.

There are also some more updates which I would like to mention. It turns out that I had to change my book choice for the Earth Badge portion, because my sister packed Shatter Me and moved away with it. Hahaha. And because I am also hooked on the series now, and would like to know what happens, I have decided to replace Shatter Me with Scarlet by Marissa Meyer (the sequel to Cinder)!

Soooo expect a review for Scarlet soon! Because I’m sure I’ll fly through this book as quickly (if not quicker) than Cinder! I will get back to Labyrinth Lost later this week. It comes out on the 6th of September, and I’d like my review to go up as close to that date (and preferably prior to that date) as possible.

Thanks for reading, and feel free to leave opinions and comments below! I’d love to know what you think about this readathon (or readathons in general)! Or Pokémon even, or my choice of Pokémon (Pichu-Pikachu-Raichu) for this contest!

  1. I’m so loving This Savage Song, I started it yesterday morning and I have about 80 pages left to go and I can’t wait to devour them. Going to write my Musing Monday post first though. I keep meaning to get around to Cinder, I would have chosen it for the Earth Badge, but I recently read The Maze Runner so I decided to go with The Scorch Trials so I can find out what happens next.

    1. Ahhh I’m so glad that you seem to be enjoying it more than me! It must have been that I was expecting something different than what it actually was. But either way, I’ll read the sequal when it comes out and hopefully fall in love with the series then 🙂 I look forward to reading your thoughts when you’re done This Savage Song!

And also, picking The Scorch Trials for that reason makes total sense! I never read that series….I had The Maze Runner, because I bought it after seeing the first movie, but I never got to read it…and now I’ve given it away through my most recent giveaway XD woops

  2. I had zero expectations going into it so that could be why haha, at first I wasn’t even 100% sure what I was reading! I plan to review it when I finish.

I nabbed both for like $6 total on bookoutlet.ca back in July.

      1. I just realised I should have told you about the position in the library at Laurier that closed last week! It might have interested you.

I just finished This Savage Song, and maybe it’s the fact that I’m sitting directly in front of a fan, but I think it gave me goosebumps haha.

        1. Ohhh that would have definitely interested me! Could you let me know the next time something opens up? I would be eternally grateful! <3

And ohhh goosebumps is good! Right? Haha. How many stars will you be giving it? 😀

      2. I will definitely let you know that! This one may or may not end up needing a second round of applications so I will let you know if it does.

5 on goodreads undecided between 4.5 or 5 when I write my review, we will see.

        1. Thank you so much!!

And alright! It does sound like you liked it more than me haha, because I was just thinking about maybe changing my 4 stars to 3.5…..

      3. I just sent you an email regarding this conversation that I think you will like 🙂

Each to their own! Such is the glorious nature of books, it’s why there are so many!
