Musing Mondays (#7)

ezgif-1545491241I’m somehow managing to write 2 of these posts consecutively! This is amazing and amazing. We should celebrate. My plan to post more of these memes regularly seem to be working!

For those of you who don’t know, Musing Mondays is hosted by the awesome MizB every Monday. This is a blog hop where participants have to answer one of the pre-set prompts of (I’m currently reading…; Up next I think I’ll read…; I bought the following book(s) in the past week…; I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…; I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…; I can’t wait to get a copy of…; I wish I could read ___, but…; OR I blogged about ____ this past week…). And you also have to answer an additional random question which is different every week!

This week I’ll be answering one of the weekly prompts, before answering the random question for this week:

I can’t wait to get a copy of…

51lymh6aw1lIt doesn’t even have a title yet…but I’m very very excited to get my hands on the 3rd installment of the A Court of Thorns and Roses series! It’s been just a few months since I read the 2nd book, A Court of Mist and Fury and….it’s been a few months too many since I’ve been waiting for the next book.

I really really want to know what happens next, and I may just die before the 3rd book hits shelves in May of next year.

Maybe once the cover and title of the 3rd book are revealed, it’ll be enough to hold me over until the release date. But I highly doubt it. I’ll likely make another blog post when that happens! You can read my reviews of A Court of Thorns and Roses and A Court of Mist and Fury here and here!

And now I will be answering this week’s random question:

How has your reading changed in the last 10 years?

It has changed considerably, I would say. Ten years ago, I was reading adult books. Mainly high fantasy by authors such as Terry Goodkind and Robert Jordan. Thick tomes containing complex world and plots. And I was also reading romance novels and thrilled by authors such as Nora Roberts and Iris Johansen.

Whereas now, I’m reading more young adult fiction (mostly fantasy and sci-fi), as well as some literary fiction (mostly CanLit).

MY REVIEWS:
The Clay Girl by Heather Tucker
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
The Diabolic by S.J. Kincaid
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

THANK YOU FOR READING MY POST! Which book release are you most looking forward to? Also, did your reading change as drastically as mine? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. Here’s hoping you can get your hands on an ARC of the next Court of Thorns and Roses book! Then you won;t have to wait as long :).

I’ve done the opposite to you, I was reading mostly middle grade (i.e. Rick Riordan, Eoin Colfer) and YA stuff 10 years ago, I’ve started reading a lot more adult stuff over the last few years. Although I still haven’t been brave enough to tackle some of those bigger more complex fantasy series. I really should, I love high fantasy.

    Here’s my post: http://twobirds1blog.blogspot.ca/2016/11/musing-mondays-i-didnt-choose-reading.html

    1. Aweee I’ve already tried to get an ARC and it turns out that they’re not printing ARCs for that book 🙁 I have to wait like everyone else….hahaha.

Oh ohhh that’s interesting! I feel like I’ve gone backwards…age-wise or something.

And thanks for sharing your post! I’ll check it out ASAP! 😀

      1. Aww that sucks! I sort of get it though, build the hype I suppose haha.

I still read a fair amount of YA and middle grade stuff I just actually read adult stuff now too.

  2. I used to read a lot of fantasy and horror back in the day. These days, my reading is much more varied. I now read sci-fi, crime, YA, classics and magical realism as well.

As for books I’m looking forward to: Thorn of Emberlain by Scott Lynch, the fourth part in the Gentleman Bastard series. Lynch has created an interesting world with awesome characters, so I want to read more of it.

I have yet to read A Court of Thorns and Roses by Maas. I did recently read Throne of Glass by the same author and I *really* enjoyed it.

    1. Ohhh that’s an interesting change 🙂 I forgot to put down that I also read classics. Haha. Oh well.

And ohh I’ll have to look into this Gentleman Bastard series. I’m intrigued.

And I hve yet to read Throne of Glass, but I think that I’ll really enjoy it. Let me know if you get around to reading A Court of Thorns and Roses and what you think! 🙂

      1. Ooh. Cool! Well, there’s Amy Tan, who wrote The Joy Luck Club. Fantastic book, and the movie made me cry. Then there’s Lisa See, who I really love, who wrote Peony in Love, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan (a movie on Netflix I believe), and Shanghai Girls.
If you want to try one, I’d recommend Joy Luck Club or Shanghai Girls first.
There’s also Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden…that’s more popular and was a BIG movie. But I love them all!

        1. Oh nice! I’ve never heard of those first ones! But I’ve read and watched Memoirs of a Geisha! So good! Have you ever read Jay Kristoff’s trilogy? I think it’s very Japan inspired…
