Welcome to my Indigo Teen Staff Pick of the Month blog post for April 2020! I hope you’re all healthy and safe out there! If you’ve been following my Instagram account, you might have noticed that I’ve been posting about the Indigo Teen Staff Picks since November 2017. I started talking about these picks in January 2018, and have enjoyed discussing them with you all! Keep reading to see which book is this month’s Indigo Teen Staff Pick!
For those hearing about Indigo Teen Staff Pick of the Month for the first time, it’s a program run by Chapters/Indigo Books & Music Inc. in which 100 staff members read a number of teen and YA books and then vote for their pick of the month! Each monthly pick is announced by Chapters/Indigo at the beginning of each month, and each of the picks are kept secret until then! Isn’t that exciting? Please be sure to use #IndigoStaffPicks if you share anything about this on social media, or if you want to show off your own copy of a Teen Staff Picks book (in connection to this)!

A princess with two futures. A destiny all her own
Between her cruel family and the contempt she faces at court, Princess Alyrra has always longed to escape the confines of her royal life. But when she’s betrothed to the powerful prince Kestrin, Alyrra embarks on a journey to his land with little hope for a better future.
When a mysterious and terrifying sorceress robs Alyrra of both her identity and her role as princess, Alyrra seizes the opportunity to start a new life for herself as a goose girl.
But Alyrra soon finds that Kestrin is not what she expected. The more Alyrra learns of this new kingdom, the pain and suffering its people endure, as well as the danger facing Kestrin from the sorceress herself, the more she knows she can’t remain the goose girl forever.
With the fate of the kingdom at stake, Alyrra is caught between two worlds and ultimately must decide who she is, and what she stands for.
I saw this book cover somewhere and knew I wanted to learn more about it! Ahhh, a “princess” retelling I haven’t gotten to yet. I can’t wait to check this one out.
Isn’t it a great cover? And yeah I’m all for retellings of stories we haven’t seen retold yet, or not retold as much yet, haha!
Oooh no I’ve not read this yet, but my favourite retelling ever is also a Goose Girl retelling (‘The Goose Girl’ by Shannon Hale) so I’m excited to read another! It sounds awesome.
That’s awesome! I hope you’ll get to read it ASAP and that you love it 😀
Thanks!! Me too 😀
This book sounds really interesting. I have it sitting in my B&N shopping cart right now. I’m just waiting a few more days for some anticipated releases to come out so I can make the order worth my time. I don’t like only ordering one or two books, so I usually wait until I have 4+ to click ‘checkout.’
That sounds like a good plan! And I agree that it sounds interesting 😀
🙁 I took it out of the cart because I had like 8 or 9 books and I thought that was too many. But then I found out today that the company I work for is giving everyone who had perfect attendance last week a bonus check in a couple days…so I guess I’m going to do another book order now, lol. Just need to put Thorn back in my cart.
That’s awesome! And yay I’m glad you’re able to get a copy in the end 😀
