Gilmore Girls: A Year In the Life Book Tag

This lovely tag was created by Savannah over at The Book Prophet, and she has honoured me by tagging me to complete it! Like many people out there, I have seen a hand-full of Gilmore Girls episodes, but probably never in order, and always at random while visiting friends’ houses. You see, my parents don’t believe in cable, and we haven’t had cable since I was about 7 or 8, haha. Luckily though, now there’s Netflix, and every single Gilmore Girls episode is available on there! Because of this tag, I started watching Gilmore Girls last week, and love it so far, but because I’m only a few episodes in, will likely not understand many of the things mentioned in this tag. But anyway, here goes!

Note: due to the nature of these questions (naming characters for certain traits), there will be some spoilers. I have put a warning down for each spoiler, so you can skip ahead before the spoilage.

Rules:

1. Mention the creator of the tag

2. Answer all of the questions

3. Tag 5 other bloggers

4. Have fun!

Lorelai and Rory: Name a mother-daughter pair who are the best of friends

Hmmm, this is a tough one because it’s not generally something I look for in the books I read. But after some contemplation, I’ve decided to go with Ada Navarra and her mother from Iron Cast. They are both very strong women, surviving in a time and place which was not welcoming to people of their skin tone. Ada’s mother also has the most beautiful way of telling Ada about how she and her father met…but you’ll have to read the book to know more!

Luke Danes: A character who has a tough exterior but is soft on the inside and would do anything for those he loves

If you haven’t read A Court of Mist and Fury yet, this will be a spoiler, so please skip to the next prompt! You have been warned! Here I definitely have to go with Rhysand from the A Court of Thorns and Roses series! He definitely had me fooled! I thought I was drawn to him because I tend to be attracted to villains, but he definitely showed his true colours in the 2nd book, and has now become one of my favourite characters of all time!

Sookie St. James: The protagonist’s best friend who always has their back and provides comfort to them when needed

I’ll have to go with Iko from the Lunar Chronicles. I’ve only read the first 2 books, but from what I’ve seen so far, Iko is definitely Cinder’s best friend! Yes, she’s a robot, but the prompt never mentioned that the character has to be human! I can’t wait to read the third book in the series, Cress, because I’m itching to know what’ll happen next.

Lane Kim: A character who has a sour relationship with her strict parent(s)

I’ll go with Ari from The Clay Girl by Heather Tucker for this one. Her mother is the DEVIL. I had the urge to throw the book across the room so many times because of Ari’s mom! She is truly horrible to the point where I cannot put it into words. You’ll have to read the book to understand, haha. But be warned…have a punching bag at the ready.

Emily and Richard Gilmore: A couple who would grow old and die together

The Grisha Trilogy spoilers ahead! This tag is making me spoil all the things, I swear! Haha. You have been warned. Alina and Mal are definitely a couple who will grow old and die together. Although I wasn’t sure how their lives would play out until the last like…30 pages of the third book! It drove me nuts!

Jess Mariano: A bad boy who the protagonist falls for

I’ll be going with an answer from The Grisha Trilogy again here, so if you haven’t finished the first book in the series, please skip ahead! The Darkling is definitely a bad boy, and Alina (as well as nearly every reader, myself included) fell for him pretty hard. He’s got the good looks and he’s baaaaad. I could say more, but then I’d spoil the third book too. Gah, I hate writing spoilers, I’m sorryyyy!

Dean Forester: The perfect first boyfriend

tumblr_midp06sege1qfhvpzo1_250I’ll have to go with Kai from The Lunar Chronicles here! He’s so sweet and doesn’t seem at all snobby or conceited despite being a prince! He also seems like quite the gentleman who would respect a lady’s space and wishes, but also self assured enough to not be a puppy dog who follows you everywhere, and sits when you say “sit.” I’m curious to see how his character develops throughout the rest of the book series.

Paris Geller: The villain who over time becomes an ally with the protagonist

Another The Grisha Trilogy spoiler. I don’t know if it’s because this is the most recent series I’ve finished, or if it just really contains a lot of variety. But in either case, skip to the next section if you don’t want spoilage. Zoya is a villain or antagonist who becomes an ally (if not truly a friend) for Alina.

Logan Huntzberger: The rich kid who turns out to not care about the money he has

I’ll go with Tyrus from The Diabolic for this one. Again if you have not read the book, skip to the next part! It seems as if Tyrus enjoys having money, but he’s more concerned with building a better empire / kingdom / whatever. And if money can help him do that, he will use it. But it’s not more money that he’s after. I like him a lot, if you couldn’t tell, haha.

Michel Gerard: A character who’s sarcasm is their first and only language

Hmm perhaps Talis from The Prisoners of Peace series by Erin Bow? If I remember correctly. That’s a few books back, so I hope you’ll excuse me if I got this wrong. I also have a raging headache as I write this post. But yes, if I remember correctly, Talis can be quite sarcastic!

  1. Yikes! I gave you a lot of questions where spoilers would be the answers haha. I’m so happy you did this tag! I loved your answers, even though the only book I’ve read that you used in this was Cinder/Scarlet.

    1. Oh no! I hope that people will be able to read them bahahaha or I’ll have to re-do it..somehow… 😛 and don’t worry! I’m happy you tagged me! Like I said, I love book tags.
