This book is definitely worth all of the hype!

I am so glad that I finally had the chance to read it, and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

Meyer has given a lot of thought to the world which she has created, and she gives the reader enough description in order for them to construct this world in their mind, while also urging them to want to ask questions, and know more about said world. Maybe it’s because I love intricate details, and am a lover of the history of things, but I really want to know more about New Beijing, as well as the rest of the planet. I also want to know more about the Lunars!

Luckily for me, there are three more books out from this series, with a fourth coming out this Fall!

The characters were well-rounded, and I definitely got a feel for their essence while reading Cinder. Some I loved and some I hated, which indicates to me that they were made to feel real enough for me to do so. I cheered for them (especially Cinder), and cried for them, and others I wrinkled my nose and shook my fist at.

Meyer’s writing is in no way intricate or a masterpiece, but it is engaging and it easily pulls you in. At no point while reading this book, did I find myself wanting to “edit” any words or phrases! This to me indicates that Meyer is good at her craft. She has certainly become one of my favourite storytellers.

I recommend this book to those who enjoy sci-fi, adventure, and a little bit of heartache.
