It’s a new month, which means that it’s Calendar Girls Books time! I’m a bit late with my post this month, but life happens, you know? This month’s theme is Pumpkin Lanterns (Book That Lit Your Way Out of a Reading Slump) and I’m very excited to see which books got all of the other participants out of reading slumps! Continue reading to see what my top pick is and what other participants have chosen too!
⤖ About Calendar Girls ⬻
Hosted by Katie @ Never Not Reading and Darque Reader Reads. From Katie’s blog: Calendar Girls is a monthly blog event created by Melanie at MNBernard Books, and Flavia at Flavia the Bibliophile, and will now be hosted by me, Katie. It is designed to ignite bookish discussions among readers, and was inspired by the 1961 Neil Sedaka song, Calendar Girl. Just like the song, each month has a different theme. Each blogger picks their favorite book from the theme, and on the first Monday of the month reveals their pick in a Calendar Girls post. Make sure to post back to the hostess’s post, and I will make a master list for the month. The master lists allow everyone to see the other Calendar Girls’ picks and to pop on over to their blogs. Thus, we all get to chat about books and even make some new friends!

Title: Wicked Saints
Author: Emily A. Duncan
Type: Fiction
Genre: YA, Fantasy
Publisher: Wednesday Books (Macmillan)

A girl who can speak to gods must save her people without destroying herself.
A prince in danger must decide who to trust.
A boy with a monstrous secret waits in the wings.
Together, they must assassinate the king and stop the war.
In a centuries-long war where beauty and brutality meet, their three paths entwine in a shadowy world of spilled blood and mysterious saints, where a forbidden romance threatens to tip the scales between dark and light. Wicked Saints is the thrilling start to Emily A. Duncan’s devastatingly Gothic Something Dark and Holy trilogy.

I have a copy of this book but still haven’t picked it up yet! Glad to hear it helped you out of a slump, that makes me want to move it up on my TBR!
I hope you’ll get to read it soon! It was exactly what I needed at the time and made me get that “can’t put this book down” feeling again 🙂
I was eyeing this book before it came out and then one of my book box subs had it one month so I should really get around to reading it. Also, the cover is so pretty!
That’s awesome! And I do hope you’ll get to read it soon 😀
This one sounds tempting. I have not heard of it before!
Gasp! It was all over the internet around it’s pub date so that took me by surprise lol. And I think you’d like it 🙂
Lol. Yeah, I haven’t been up on the book news since the end of last year. I really need to read something, but just haven’t felt like it. I might need help, lmao!
Awe I totally get that. And ahhhhh oh no that’s awful! What kind of book do you think would get you out of the slump? I could try recommending some lol
I honestly don’t know. I don’t even know if it’s truly a slump. I think I’m afraid if I go back to reading that I will fall back in to my lazy ways from before my weight loss journey. When we lost Stephanie to a blood clot, it was a big wake up call to me that I was sitting still way to much during the day, and I know that once I get in to a book, I don’t like to move until I finish it, so, I think it’s a fear that I will get so involved in reading again that I will not be getting my steps in during the day and will get lazy during my workouts.
Oh noooo 🙁 that sucks because it’s taking away something you love from you! But I totally get it. Have you tried audiobooks? I’ve also found that reading on a stationary bike can be fun 🙂
I’ve tried them in the past with no success, but I haven’t tried them again yet. I might.
Yeah! I’d be so sad if you stopped reading :'(
Thanks friend. I’m hoping to figure something out soon!
