Calendar Girls 2017 Launch!

As some of yo may have noticed, fellow blogger Melanie and I have been hinting about a blogging event which will be happening in 2017. We have also mentioned that we would let you know on December 3rd…and thus…it’s ALIVE! I mean…it’s time.

“So… What is Calendar Girls?”

Calendar Girls is a brand new monthly blog event inspired by Neil Sedaka’s 1961 song Calendar Girl. Just like in the song, we decided to use a specific them for each month and choose a book based on these themes! The event is meant to incite discussions with other bloggers about books we’ve read and loved, is meant to help bloggers meet other bloggers, and also for bloggers and readers to find out about blogs which they normally may not have come across!

“Cool! How does it work?”

Simple! Each month is going to have a theme. All you have to do is pick and read a book that you think matches that theme. (No worries! It can be a book you’ve read before, if you want!)

Then, on the first Wednesday of each month each participant will post their book selection to their blog along with their reason why they think that book matches the month’s them (while also adding a link or links to Melanie’s blog or mine, so that others who may be interested can find out more about the event).

“That’s it?!”

Not quite! We want you to visit other bloggers’ posts and discuss with them in their comments section why they chose that book and whether or not you agree. Please remember to be polite!

You’ll be able to find a list of participating bloggers on mine and Melanie’s book-choice posts for the month, which will be updated as new bloggers join the event! Our book-choice posts will also contain the theme for the next month, as well!

“Great! When does it start? And how do I sign up?”

Calendar Girls will be starting in January 2017! That means, your first book-choice post should go up on January 4th, and you should leave a link to your post in the comments section of either mine or Melanie’s post.

In the meantime, please let Melanie or I know you’re interested in joining the Calendar Girls event by commenting below or tweeting us at @flavbibliophile or @Noellbernardand use the hashtag #CalendarGirlsBooks to spread the word and keep in touch with other participating bloggers!

For updates and reminders, as well as important news, sign up for the #CalendarGirlsBooks newsletter!

And finally…without further ado, here is our January theme…

  1. I think this is something I would love to participate in. This blog is fairly new, since March, and I would like to engage more readers/followers. Definitely signing up for that newsletter!

    1. Yay! So glad to have you! And if you join the newsletter, maybe the emails could kind of work as reminders? I tend to find newsletters useful for that, haha, because I can’t normally keep up with these things either! 🙂

  2. […] There is a new, awesome group that has been started Melanie Noell Bernard and Flavia (check out their own blogs because they’re amazing as well), and it is called Calendar Girls. I am definitely planning to be part (if they let this fangirling Book Princess crazy ramblings in ;)), but they are still looking for other bloggers to take part of the fun. Each month, they will be having a cool theme where you share your bookish thoughts and then visit your fellow Calendar Girls to hold battles…I mean discussions (this is what I get for watching too much of The Crown on Netflix) on whether or not you agree! Want to know more? Check out Melanie’s post here and Flavia’s post here. […]

    1. Hey I hope you’ll still join us! Like I said before, your comments were all sitting in my spam folder until like 5 min ago!! The theme for February is best YA romance ever! 😉
