13 Halloween Movies (October 2019)

The post like this one that I published last year was so much fun to write, as was a similar one that I posted the year before! And you guys really seem to have enjoyed reading and talking about them, so I just had to write another one for 2019. P.s. I never include movies that absolutely terrified me and that I, therefore, don’t really enjoy to watch on this list (i.e. The Conjuring movies, Insidious movies, and Paranormal Activity movies). Also, some of the movies mentioned are more updates on what I’ve done with the movies since last year. Do you make lists of movies to watch this time of year? And are they kind of scary, super scary, or not at all scary? Let me know in the comments!

⤖ Movie One ⬻

Hocus Pocus (1993)

Definitely watching Hocus Pocus again this year just like I do every year! It’s my absolute all-time favourite of all Halloween movies.

⤖ Movie Two ⬻

Tragedy Girls (2017)

Tragedy Girls was on my list last year, but I didn’t get around to watching it in 2018, so 2019 will have to be the year that I finally watch it!

⤖ Movie Three ⬻

Crimson Peak (2015)

Definitely re-watching Crimson Peak again! Like I said last year, “This movie is one of the scariest that I’ve ever seen, but I also find it to be creepily beautiful and love the atmosphere and the casting.”

⤖ Movie Four ⬻

Practical Magic (1998)

This is another one that I didn’t get around to watching (yes, I know. The shame!) So, I will definitely have to make it one of my Halloween movies this year.

⤖ Movie Five ⬻

ParaNorman (2012)

This one I didn’t have a chance to re-watch last year, but will definitely try to re-watch this year. Last year, I said: I didn’t watch this movie right when it came out, thinking it would be silly. But, when I finally did sit down to watch it, I was so impressed! It was really well-done, funny at times, and (to my surprise) it also made me cry!

⤖ Movie Six ⬻

The Shining (1980)

I finally watched The Shining this year! Milana from A Couple Reads and Becky from Reading Between Reality hadn’t seen it either, so we sat down and decided to watch it together earlier this month! We didn’t like it though, so it definitely won’t be making the list next year (but there might be hope for the sequel, Doctor Sleep)!

⤖ Movie Seven ⬻

Sleepy Hollow (1999)

I re-watched Sleepy Hollow last week and it’s still one of my favourites! I’m so glad too because you know how sometimes you love a book or movie the first time you see it but then change your mind when you read or watch it again? Phew!

⤖ Movie Eight ⬻

The Lost Boys (1987)

This is another one that I didn’t get around to last year! Like I said in 2018, I love vampires (excluding the Twilight ones), and I love the 80s, so it’s really silly of me not to watch Lost Boys. Maybe this year will be the year.

⤖ Movie Nine ⬻

It (2017)

I haven’t re-watched It part 1 yet, but I did see part 2 this year! Might have to binge-watch them both one after the other this week though (or on Halloween night)! Like I said in last year’s post, this one was scary for me, but I also really enjoyed the storyline and the atmosphere!

⤖ Movie Ten ⬻

Get Out (2017)

I didn’t get around to this one last October, but I did watch it this past summer! It was definitely scary (although not your typical Halloween spooky) and I’m glad that I watched it, but I’m not likely to ever re-watch it.

⤖ Movie Eleven ⬻

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

This is another one that I’ve already re-watched this October! High-five, self! The Nightmare Before Christmas is another fave of mine and I definitely try to make time for it every year around this time.

⤖ Movie Twelve ⬻

Carrie (2013)

I never got around to seeing the 1976 or the 2013 adaptation of Carrie, so I will have to try to get to it this week sometime! I’ll also more than likely watch the 2013 version rather than the older one.

⤖ Movie Thirteen ⬻

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019)

And I thought that I would finish the list off with a movie that’s new to the list! Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark was one of my most-anticipated scary movies of the year and I’m happy that I got around to watching it so close to Halloween (this past Sunday night, in fact). Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite as scary and the story wasn’t as good as we were expecting. That being said though, we’ll definitely be watching the sequel if there is one. This particular movie won’t be making the list next year though.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR READING! HAVE YOU WATCHED ANY OF THESE MOVIES? AND IF SO, WHAT DID YOU THINK? IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THEM YET, ARE YOU PLANNING TO? WHY? WHY NOT? ALSO, DO YOU HAVE ANY HALLOWEEN TYPE MOVIES THAT YOU LIKE TO WATCH EVERY YEAR AROUND THIS TIME OF YEAR? LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS BELOW!
