WWW WEDNESDAY (#5)

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to write one of these, and I’m really sad about that! So I’ll be posting a few more books than usual in this post, to catch you all up! I’m also hoping to make these posts more often! Also, for those of you who don’t know what WWW Wednesday is, I will post a quote from the post written by the hostess (at Taking on the World of Words), because I think that she explains it better than I could:

Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived here on Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses. Please, take some time to visit the other participants and see what others are reading. So, let’s get to it!

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

– CURRENTLY READING –

  1. The Unleashed by Bentz Deyo — I read the first book in this series in late December 2016, and I’m so very glad that the wait for the next book was not very long for me (especially considering how book 1 ends)! I am not too far into this book yet, but I am thoroughly enjoying it so far. The plot is definitely thickening, and there is quite a bit of action!
  2. Wondrous Strange by Lesley Livingston — I started auidiobooking this book today actually, mainly because it was in my TBR and it was available for download from my library, but also because I finished The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black today and it left me with an intense book hangover! I was not ready to say goodbye to the fae just yet, so I picked up another book about them!
  3. Sage (Volume 6) by Brian K. Vaughan (Writer) and Fiona Staples (Artist) — and I’m finally on the most recent issue of this comic! It’s been quite the ride since volume 1, and while this isn’t a series I would normally enjoy…I really really like this comic book series! Highly recommended!

  1. Ooh some of those look really interesting, I’m adding them to my TBR! I’m currently reading Crooked Kingdom, which is absolutely insane – my Grishaverse needs aren’t sated yet!

  2. Saga, Vol. 1 was my first read of the year! I didn’t know if I’d like it, as I’ve never been into graphic novels/comic books, but this series is AMAZING! I went ahead and bought the remaining five books to prep for Vol. 7’s release this spring! LOL! Happy reading! 😀

    1. Ahhh yes it really is amazing! I finished volume 6 last night and omg the emotions. I hope that the rest of the volumes come out fast because I suck at waiting!

Thanks so much for reading and commenting! 😀

        1. I’m sure you can! They’re pretty quick reads…and the plot holds ones attention pretty well too haha. Also aahhhh thanks so much! Love yours too! It’s so pretty 😀

  3. I first thought that the unicorn reading the book was following my mouse on the screen lol. I’ve been wanting to try out Saga and Wintersong, should I? I’m reading Rebels Like Us right now, actually.

    1. LOL that’s too funny! But I would have probably thought that too XD

How are you liking Rebels Like Us? Andd I recommend both of those, but I’m not sure if either of them are everyone’s thing. The stories are both good, and Wintersong is dark, and fairytale-ish. While Saga is definitely an adult comic, with much adult content and themes. I would say that you should try them out 🙂

      1. Rebels Like Us is pretty good so far, but there are a lot of cliches (and the main character is actually self-aware of the said cliches which can be quite funny). I like dark fairytale-like stories so I’ll definitely have to check Wintersong out some time (plus the cover is gorgeous). I’ve read the Walking Dead comics which do have some adult content so I think I should be fine. It just depends on how much there is.

  4. Ooooh, “Wondrous Strange” is on my Goodreads TBR list! I hope it’s good.

If you’re still feeling that fae funk, I would recommend Maggie Stiefvater’s “Lament”/”Ballad” or Julie Kagawa’s Iron Fey series. They helped fill my fae void a few years ago.

    1. It’s pretty good so far! And those are in my TBR hehe, and I was going to actually get to those first, but I’m listening to Wondrous Strange as an audiobook while I’m working, and the other’s weren’t available thought my library as audiobooks XD

I’ll get to them soon though! Thanks for the recommendation!

  5. Good to Know, I may just pick up some of her other books. Oh Saga! at least your wait won’t be as long as mine has been for vol 7 which has felt eternallllll LOL!

I am about 15 pages away from finishing Long May She Reign, I had to put it on hold this past week while I moved (also the reason for my late response, sorry) but btwn yesterday & this morning I’ve devoured it lol. I was wondering how a stand-alone Fantasy would work in YA & since it’s also a mystery I think it worked very well. LOVE that the female protog/Queen is a scientist!

Daughter of the Pirate King was SOOO much fun & funny too, I legit enjoyed every minute of it & I’m about 99.9% certain it will be next month’s Owlcrate selection so that saves me the trouble of pre-ordering 😉

    1. I finished Wondrous Strange, and it was actually narrated by her! It was good but not amazing. I gave it 4 stars, haha. And lol yes, I’m glad I don’t have to wait as long as you have had to for vol 7!

And Long May She Reign sounds pretty awesome! I’ll have to check it out.

And fun and funny is good. I just wasn’t too crazy about the cover…not sure why. I will have to read it though! I’m debating whether to get the March owl crate…because it just costs so much when converting USD to CAD, and the shipping……..
