Jay Kristoff’s Nevernight

Although I’ve already read this book, as those of you following my blog for some time will know (because I talk about it any chance that I can), I do not own it yet! It’s one of my favourite books of all time, and I wold be so so happy if Santa brought me this beautiful UK and AUS version…possible with black sprayed edges? Haha. This book was definitely on my Amazon wishlist for this Holiday season.

Haruki Murakami’s Norwegian Wood

I have been hearing about Haruki Murakami, and seen his books around, for some time now. His books felt like they were on a level of maturity which I had not reached yet, however, so I stayed clear. I think that I have grown in a way now, however, that will help me not just understand his work, but also appreciate it. I have decided to start with this book, and even placed it on my Amazon Christmas wishlist! So here’s hoping!

I also hope that I will enjoy this book as well as the others, because Japanese culture is my thing! Have any of you read Murakami before? And if so, what did you think?

J.K.Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts
and Where to Find Them: The Original Screenplay

Who wouldn’t want this book under their tree, honestly? Except for Harry Potter haters I suppose…and people who don’t read…or people who didn’t like the film. So, alright, maybe not everyone would want or know how to appreciate this book. But I do! I really enjoyed the movie, and have heard that man who didn’t enjoy Cursed Child did like this screenplay. I could tell from the movie alone that the story line and everything had Rowling written all over it, which Cursed Child was lacking (although I did enjoy it! You can read my review here!) How many of you are hoping to find this under your Christmas tree as well? Or want it as a birthday gift if they do not celebrate Christmas?

Simon Sebag Montefiore’s The Romanovs: 1613-1918

I discovered this book while voting for the Goodreads awards for this year, and the first thing which caught my eye was the beautiful mix of turquoise, gold, and white. The second thing which I noticed was the title of the book, and I was hooked. Although I don’t usually read much non-fiction, the Romanov family has always been a topic of curiosity and fascination for me, and the 1997 cartoon film Anastasia is one of my favourites of all time for this reason, as well as the beautiful colours, sound, character development, romance….but we can discuss this another time. I would love to find this book under my tree! Anyone else?

Roshani Chokshi’s The Star-Touched Queen

I have not yet read this book (even though I’ve requested and received the sequel for review, shh!) But I know that judging from what others have said, and from knowing my own tastes, that I will love it. Also, look at that beautiful cover!

I feel like I’m the only person on the planet who has not read this book yet, haha. Please let me know if some of you have not read it yet! I keep meaning to, but I signed up for a lot of books to read and review for publishers and authors over the last half of this year, and just didn’t get to it yet. I will be reading it in, or before, March though! Right before the sequel. It’ll be like a fun little marathon!

J.K.Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
Illustrated by Jim Kay

This one should not need any explanation. As a big Potterhead, I absolutely need to own this book. It’s not so much a growing-my-collection thing, as it is just a must-have book in general. The book is a high quality hardcover, filled with exceptional artwork depicting the beginning of the story we know and love. The illustrated version of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets has also been released now, but both of these books are very expensive (with good reason), which is why I do not own them yet. So, please Santa! I’ve been good! Haha.

Hope Jahren’s Lab Girl

Another nonfiction book! What is going on?! I think the first time that I came across this book was during one of my many visits to Chapters/Indigo. I noticed that a lot of these books were taking up a good portion of a shelf, and the cover really caught my eye. I read the back, and I knew that I had to get my hands on this book at some point…but not on that day, because at the time it cost somewhere between $30 and $40 CAD! Some months later, I stumbled upon an essay by Hope Jahren, and remembering that I wanted to read her book, I sat down and read it…and bawled my eyes out! I tried to find it for your guys, but it must have poofed out of existence, because I cannot find a trace of it.

Saab Tahir’s An Ember in the Ashes

I’ve read and reviewed a sneak peek of this book on NetGalley, and even though this sneak peek spurred me to want to read this book even more, I had been meaning to read it for quite some time before that. I’ve only heard good things about this book, and it really sounds like something that’d be right up my alley. I like what it is that I’ve gathered about the world, setting, and characters from the sneak peek, and I can’t wait to read more!

Hoping Santa will be good to me and leave this under the tree!

SANDHYA MENON’S WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI

I read and reviewed a sneak peek of this book on NetGalley as well! Way back in April when I first started this blog, and I actually posted this review on here, unlike the one I wrote for An Ember in the Ashes. …And I guess I’ll share the link to this mini review, even though I’m embarrassed about my writing and formatting from back then, haha.

The writing in this book really impressed me, as did some of the mature subject matter. I’ve also only heard good things about this book and see it everywhere! Definitely a must-read for me, and I hope Santa feels the same!

Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows

And finally, number ten! I am currently reading this book, but do not own it. And when I was just a few pages in, I knew that I had to own this book. I’m borrowing it from the library right now, and while it’s pretty awesome that I can hold it in my hands because of my amazing library, I am running out of time with it. I have been unable to devote any time to it lately because I have been swamped with books I’ve agreed to read and review, and because I’m trying to dive into the reading I have to do for January, early. It’s kind of unfair of me to keep the book while someone else may want to borrow it from the library and read it, so I’ll be taking it back today.

I do hope that Santa will think me worthy and leave this book (and possibly the sequel) under the tree for me! The black and red sprayed edges on this duology are to die for, as are the covers!
