Thy House by Chad Williams (Book Feature)

Hi everyone! Today’s post will be a little different from what I normally publish. Today’s post is a book feature! I absolutely love the cover of Thy House (continue reading to see its amazingness), and am also quite intrigued by the synopsis: superhuman powers, seven noble Houses, the eldest children of four Houses, and their interactions with each other and a potential war. Generations ago, superhuman abilities emerged in the people of earth. The superpowered organized themselves into seven noble Houses, each ruling over a portion of the globe. So to not destroy one another, they chose to live as neighbors on an island they had risen into the sky above the Atlantic. About nine years ago, the Houses were on the brink of world war. To prevent this, the first families of the Houses of Braun and Miyamoto arranged for the marriage of their eldest children. Today, as this arrangement crumbles, Evanton Braun, Keiko Miyamoto, Oliver Cunningham, and Joseph Meka, the foremost children of their respective Houses, will each have to decide where they stand in relation to their Houses and to one other. Though still teenagers, the fate of the world depends on the choices they now must make. These are their stories.

Although destined to become the Patriarch of a military dictatorship, Joseph Meka is a progressive whose liberal ideals put him at odds with his House and his father, the current Patriarch.

Proud to the point of arrogance, Evanton Braun is to inherit the Patriarchship of his House upon his twenty-second birthday. To preserve the peace, he was committed by his House to marry Keiko Miyamoto. However, a harsh upbringing has made it difficult for him to truly connect with her.

Keiko is the eldest daughter of the House of Miyamoto’s first family. As a woman, however, she cannot inherit the Patriarchship. Instead, she is fated to marry Evanton Braun. An artist and a free spirit, she is torn between the inclinations of her heart and the demands of her House.

Charming and good humored, but impulsive, Oliver Cunningham is more interested in life’s pleasures than his role as heir to the Patriarchship. As he approaches his inheritance, however, his lifestyle is bound to catch up to him.
