Stranger Things Book Tag

created by- arunning-commentary.blogspot.com.png

I was tagged by Pore Over the Pages to do the Stranger Things Book Tag! I finished the series maybe 1 or 2 weeks ago (I can’t keep track of time too well, haha). But anyway, it was an amazing show, and I can’t wait for the next season! This book tag was created by A Running Commentary, and it should be quite fun! So, here goes…

ST book tag 1.png

this_savage_song_coverI’ll have to agree with Nisha from A Running Commentary on this one. I was definitely confused and quite disoriented when starting to read This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab. While some of my questions answered themselves throughout my reading of the book, a few more questions have also cropped up, for which I am still awaiting an answer. Although I did not like this book as much as I’d hoped, I’ll definitely read the whole series as it comes out book by book. You can read my detailed review of This Savage Song here. Stranger Things, on the other hand, I loved form the first!

The-Hunger-Games-Movie-Tie-In-Edition-210The first book that comes to mind is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Even if I had been born as a citizen of the Capitol, things didn’t go too well for them in the end either. Plus, I wouldn’t be able to handle knowing how the people in the 11 Districts are being treated, as well as the danger to those in the Capitol who speak out against President Snow. Overall, it sounds like a very unpleasant world to live in…no matter which side of the war you find yourself on.

Harry_Potter_and_the_Philosopher's_Stone_Book_CoverMost definitely my copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone! The other books in the series aren’t in the best shape, but the first book is literally falling apart! My dad bought this book for me back in 1998 (I think…somewhere around there), and it was the first book that I read in English. We lived in Austria at the time, and he wanted me to brush up on my English, because I would have had better opportunities and more choices in schools later on. Turns out that we moved to Canada and I never had to find those opportunities in Austria, but having read this book definitely made it easier for me to learn how to speak English fluently once in Canada.

51pOtaWS33L._SX327_BO1,204,203,200_A trilogy that I return to for a pick-me-up? This is a bit tougher for me, as I don’t re-read books very often, and even more rarely whole trilogies. But…after thinking about it for a bit, I may have to say the A Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy would definitely be a trilogy which I would re-read when I need a pick-me-up! I know that it’s not a full trilogy yet! But It will be by this time next year, haha.

TXd3I9KFor this section, I will have to go with The Weaver from A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas. I remember that I had to sleep with the light on, because I’d read the part with The Weaver late at night, and it terrified me, hahaha. Maas definitely knows how to bring creepy characters to life! I’m a grown woman, but I still had to look under the bed before I could close my eyes, hahaha. You can read my review of A Court of Mist and Fury here.

ST book tag 6

Harry_Potter_and_the_Cursed_Child_Special_Rehearsal_Edition_Book_CoverI’ll have to say Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, since it’s the most recent one I’ve read which contains one of these villains. I won’t mention who said villain is though, for those who have not read the book (though seriously, what are you doing?! read it! haha). This villain is definitely very manipulative and quite dedicated! And I wonder if they will re-surface in future Harry Potter themed narratives…

51aT+lfhRuL._SX311_BO1,204,203,200_For this one I will choose Luck in the Shadows by Lynn Flewelling. During the phase of my life when I first found this book, I was really into narratives containing male-male relationships. More specifically, I wanted to read books which contained these relationships in fantasy settings. By the time I found Luck in the Shawdows, I’d gone through a number of books which fit those “requirements,” but the issue was that they weren’t very good. Either the writing was below mediocre, or the plot was sucked. Therefore, when I picked up Luck in the Shadows, I did not expect the good writing, or the complex plot which would keep me hooked to this author and her works for life. Ps. the book is not originally Japanese, or a manga. I just happen to like the Japanese cover for the novel the best, haha.

ST book tag 8

17287106This one will have to go to the town of Hemlock Grove from the novel with the same name, written by Brian McGreevy. Yes, I was one of the people who actually enjoyed the Neflix original series Hemlock Grove. Even though my sister and her boyfriend, who started watching it with me, didn’t continue watching after episode 3, and I was left all alone…I finished the show on my own. I don’t really like watching movies or television shows on my own haha, so that should indicate just how much I liked the show. When it was over, I wanted more, and when I discovered that it’d been based on a book, I just had to read the book in order to ease my hangover haha.

This book tag took me a bit longer to complete, but that’s because I decided to make images for each category hahaha. I’m lame. Feel free to use them if you get tagged by me or anyone else to complete this tag!

  1. I’m glad you enjoyed this tag! And I LOVE your graphics!
My copy of Harry Potter is also well used, affectionately. The Hunger Games is a great choice for a setting you wouldn’t never want to live in. The ACOMAF series is one of my favorites, as well. Lastly, I have my copy of HP and the Cursed Child, but have yet to read it. I will someday.
    Happy reading!
