Welcome to the Stranger Things 2 book tag! If you have not watched season 2 of Stranger Things all the way to the end and still intend to, I highly recommend that you do not read past this point! There are spoilers galore! (But there is a tag for those who have watched season 1, and you can find it here!)

For those of you who have finished the 2nd season, and miss the setting and characters as much as I do, please read on! This tag was created by myself, Harker from The Hermit Librarian, Tris from Tris’ Nook, and Breeny from Breeny’s Books! And I’d like to thank the 3 of them one more time, because I could not have finished compiling this tag without them!

I’m not sure if I’m correct about this one. All I know is that I had not heard of Geekerella by Ashley Poston or seen it around until I discovered Quirk Books and was looking at the “coming soon” section on their website. But after that, or maybe it was after I reviewed it (or when it was released), but then it seemed to be everywhere! And I don’t mean this in a bad way! I’m happy that this book is doing well, because it is one dear to my heart! I loved the sci-fi show that Poston created for this book, and I cannot wait for her upcoming book Heart of Iron, which will be all sci-fi (and which I will definitely be reading and reviewing!

I really disliked Delilah “Lila” Bard at the beginning of A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab…but even then, I had a feeling that this might changed. Well, by the end of the book, she kind of became my favourite! I thought all along it’d be Kell, but I sadly didn’t click with him as much as I had expected that I would. Rhy is either in a tie with Lila, or a close second, because he’s pretty awesome! I guess we’ll see if this changes as I read the rest of the trilogy though! I plan on hosting a readalong for the sequel sometime in 2018. Maybe early 2018? Maybe March? We shall see.

This prompt was actually the toughest for me in this book tag, and I’m the one who made this question up! I was having such a tough time, actually, that I left this one for the very end. And even then I struggled. There were so many choices for me…but if I absolutely have to pick a book, I will just have to go with The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi. This was a tough choice, but I think that it’s well-deserved for this book, because it was just so different from anything that I have read before…so lush, so magical, and awe-inspiring. It was just a fantastic book, and as the prompt asks, it was definitely a book that stayed unique from start to finish!

Oh my gosh…this book. So, Zero Repeat Forever by Gabrielle Prendergast turned out being quite different from what I expected, but that’s okay because it felt very fresh to me, and I ended up loving it. I especially adore the character who I am thinking of for this prompt, although I won’t say who it is because it might be a spoiler. Yeah, probably a spoiler…so if you’ve read it too and know who I mean, please don’t say who it is hahaha. Ugh, I cannot wait for the sequel to this book, and I hope that we get one sooooon! If it comes out next summer, I’ll be happy. Nothing’s been announced yet though, so I’m biting my nails over it.

This one took some thinking, but when I finally thought of him, I knew he was the best choice for this prompt! The character that I wanted to get more “screen time” is Nikolai Lantsov from Leigh Bardugo’s Ruin and Rising (the third book in the Grisha verse). I think my prayers have been answered though, or maybe I’m just not alone in this, because if I remember correctly…we’ll be getting a series, or at least a book about him?! Yes, I looked into it! The series is King of Scars, and the first book (King of Scars) will be coming out in 2019! The wait will be torture, but I’m sure it’ll be worth it!

Yup. I know that a lot of people loved This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab, but I’m still not sure how I feel about it. I absolutely loved August Flynn, and I might read the second book in the duology just for him. But Kate Harker was definitely a broody/prickly/angry hero who I had mixed feelings for. She kind of annoyed me if I’m being honest, even though I really wanted to like her. And the fact that the second book in the series starts with her perspective is the reason why I think I stopped reading just a few chapters in. I will give that book another try someday. But yeah.
This is another prompt where I can’t allow myself to actually mention which character I am referring to. I’m sorry! This is for the good of those who haven’t read Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco yet! One of the worst things a person can do (in my books) is to spoil a book for someone who was planning to read it, and being the cause of their missing out on reading it because of that. Gah. So I won’t say who it is, but the character is in this book! Dun dun duuuuun. If you haven’t read this series yet, I highly recommend it! I mean Victorian era + murders + investigations + London in the first book + Romania in the second book. Ok I’m done.

This was a tough one, because I did think of a few options that I could go with. I mean, most YA heroines go through a lot and come out stronger. Well, maybe. Some of them are just whiny and don’t develop at all…but I try my best to avoid reading those books! After much consideration though, I decided to go with Jane from My Lady Jane written by Cynthia Hand,  Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows! This book was absolutely fantastic. The first readalong I’d ever hosted was with this book, and it was the perfect choice. It was funny, with romance and adventure, and most of us enjoyed it (if not all)! I highly recommend it whether you like historical fiction or not!

I was not sure what to expect of Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray, but it doesn’t matter because I loved it! It left me with many questions, and just wanting more of the story, and the setting, and the characters. Especially Abel! Gah. I actually have the sequel to this book sitting on my shelf right now, and it’s very difficult for me not to just put a hold on the other books I’m reading so that I can read it right now. Stay strong, Flavia. But yes, I won’t say who I am talking about in this book, because spoilers (there seems to be a lot of this tag, I’m sorry!) But yes, they are in here, and you should read it.

I had a few options for this one, but opted to go with one of my favourite reads of 2017: The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee. Yes, I know that there will be a book about Monty’s sister Felicity, and while I do adore her, I really want more of Monty and Percy! But all that I can hope for is that they’ll at least show up in The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy. (Also, please don’t think that I’m not excited about Lee’s next book, because I am. Seriously. Her writing is so witty and just great. I laughed out loud quite a few times while reading The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue!)

Oh gosh. Another one. I can’t say who I’m talking about, but those of you who have read this series will know who I’m talking about. As for those of you who haven’t read A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas and the other 2 books in the series (so far), I hope that you get to do so soon times! I want to say more, but I’m afraid that even just listing this book under this category is a spoiler in itself, and I’m panicking now. Maybe I should pick another book? Hahaha. But even if I do, that might be a spoiler too. Sigh.

Well, luckily the prompt doesn’t ask for details on this one. There is a villain in this book, Warcross by Marie Lu, and I definitely have very very mixed feelings for said villain. (Although that should come as no surprise, since I am me…and some of you will know how I feel about villains in general. ((Psst….I usually love them.)) This book was such a roller coaster ride, and when it was done, it was one of those books that I wish I could forget, just so that I could read and experienced it all over again from the beginning! If I had the time to do so, this book would definitely be one of those that I’d re-read quite a few times. Needless to say, I am very much looking forward to the sequel!

Those of you who have been following my blog for a while will know that I do not read a lot of contemporary. But something about this cover really drew me in. First of all, it features a WOC, and second of all…those colours! I had never read anything by this author before, and knew that the chances were that I might dislike it. This title was very much picked on a whim, but I’m so glad that I chose it, because I absolutely loved it! This was definitely one of my favourite reads of the year, and I kind of want to re-read it right now! But ugh…so many books, such little time.

I think that this was the easiest choice that I could make for this entire book tag. And yay, it’s not a spoiler! Anyone who has read the synopsis for the first book in Jay Kristoff’s series The Nevernight Chronicle, Nevernight, will know that the main character is out for revenge! It’s the main plot, in fact, and so the revenge-getting continues in the sequel, Godsgrave (hope that wasn’t a spoiler!) The sequel for this book was not what I expected, and I did give it a lower rating than the first book, but I have a feeling that the last book will get 5 stars just like the first one, because I generally like the middle book of trilogies less than the first and last ones.

I won’t say whooooo. But those who have read Cress by Marissa Meyer will likely know who I mean. I don’t think it’s a mega spoiler, but I won’t say who I’m talking about, just in case. I highly recommend this series to those of you who haven’t read it yet! If you like sci-fi, and the classic fairytales (Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, etc. etc.), you will more than likely adore this series. At first, I was quite skeptical about having these stories that I grew up with being re-told in a sci-fi setting, but once I dove in, I was just in awe at how amazingly Marissa Meyer just made it all work!
