Musing Mondays (#4)

ezgif-1545491241It’s finally time for another Musing Mondays post! By which I mean that I finally have time on a Monday to write one again! Because I’m not organised enough to write blog posts ahead, like those superhuman bloggers who are just amazing at this blogging thing…

But anyway! Musing Mondays I’ve missed you!

For those of you who don’t know, Musing Mondays is hosted by the awesome MizB every Monday. This is a blog hop where participants have to answer one of the pre-set prompts of (I’m currently reading…; Up next I think I’ll read…; I bought the following book(s) in the past week…; I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…; I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…; I can’t wait to get a copy of…; I wish I could read ___, but…; OR I blogged about ____ this past week…). And you also have to answer an additional random question which is different every week!

I’m going to muse about one of the above-mentioned things first, and then I’ll address this week’s specific question.

I’M CURRENTLY READING…

26114463…this amazing book. I’m not too far into it because I had to read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child before someone spoiled it for me (and because I wanted to read it). And people also keep wanting to hang out with me….gawd. Haha. But yes, I’m only 33 pages into it (out of 448)! But I could read the rest of it in a day or less, if life worked out and I didn’t have other responsibilities, haha.

Summary: In a land where three suns almost never set, a fledgling killer joins a school of assassins, seeking vengeance against the powers who destroyed her family.

Daughter of an executed traitor, Mia Corvere is barely able to escape her father’s failed rebellion with her life. Alone and friendless, she hides in a city built from the bones of a dead god, hunted by the Senate and her father’s former comrades. But her gift for speaking with the shadows leads her to the door of a retired killer, and a future she never imagined.

ezgif-2306737458.gifNow, Mia is apprenticed to the deadliest flock of assassins in the entire Republic—the Red Church. If she bests her fellow students in contests of steel, poison and the subtle arts, she’ll be inducted among the Blades of the Lady of Blessed Murder, and one step closer to the vengeance she desires. But a killer is loose within the Church’s halls, the bloody secrets of Mia’s past return to haunt her, and a plot to bring down the entire congregation is unfolding in the shadows she so loves.

Will she even survive to initiation, let alone have her revenge?

Ugh. Doesn’t it sound amazing? And it gets better! Jay Kristoff’s writing is amazing! Part of the reason why I’m taking so long to read this book is because I’ve been savouring the rich language which Kristoff uses. It took me a bit to adjust my brain to reading this kind of high fantasy again.

ezgif-862700155.gifThe language is very descriptive when describing setting, characters, and events, and I’m loving every bit of it. I could happily get lost in the details of this book. It’s obvious that Jay Kristoff has put much thought into this world of his, and that it is thoroughly formed. This is not a place or story which he came up with in just an hour or two.

I’m very excited to continue reading this book, and you can expect a review very very soon!

Now for this week’s question!

Name a book that you hope to re-read some day.

51pOtaWS33L._SX327_BO1,204,203,200_I don’t even have to think about this one! I was literally talking to my sister about this before sitting down to write this post. She had just recently finished the second book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series (A Court of Mist and Fury), and I had been saying to her that I was jealous that she’d been able to experience it for the first time, and how I wanted to read the series again someday!

I love both books equally, but I’ll pick A Court of Thorns and Roses as my answer to the question, because I’d definitely have to read it and then the second one right after.

Which book do you hope to re-read someday? Let me know in the comments below!
