Musing Mondays (#17)

monday (1).jpg

Another Monday, another Musing Monday post! I don’t know about you, but I’m really jealous of the southern hemisphere right now. I’m sick of Winter and would like for it to be Summer now! Haha. How is the weather where you are?

ezgif-1545491241For those of you who don’t know, Musing Mondays is hosted by the awesome Ambrosia every Monday. This is a book blog meme where participants have to answer one of the pre-set prompts of (I’m currently reading…; Up next I think I’ll read…; I bought the following book(s) in the past week…; I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…; I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…; I can’t wait to get a copy of…; I wish I could read ___, but…; OR I blogged about ____ this past week…). And you also have to answer an additional random question which is different every week!

This week I’ll be answering one of the weekly prompts, before answering the random question for this week…

I’m super excited to tell you about…

…my very first make-up / beauty product review post! I’d been toying with the idea of expanding the list of things which I’ll be reviewing for some time now. I started with bookish items (such as bookmarks, a planner, colouring books, etc.) and now have finally moved into make-up and beauty product reviews! Once it arrives, I will also be reviewing my February Owl Crate box, as well as the February Kawaii Box! So exciting!

The first product which I had the honour of reviewing, is the brand new lip liner pencil from BITE Beauty! They also sent me matching lipsticks, so that I could try it out to the fullest! But you can read more about all of this in my review post, here!

The other thing which I am excited to tell you guys about is that our second monthly posts for our blog event Calendar Girls went live last Wednesday! And we also wanted to let you know that although a good number of us posted last week, we are still accepting posts until the end of February! But the sooner you post, the more likely you are to be featured in the newsletter which we send out at the end of the month though!

All are welcome to join us, and you can learn more about the event here! You can also see my February post here and Melanie’s here (and the posts of all other participants can be found in both of those posts)! And if you do decided to join, please be sure to comment with a link to your post on either Melanie’s Calendar Girls February post or my own!

The February theme is:

❤ BEST ROMANCE IN YA ❤

Note: What we mean by this theme is the best YA romance of all time (not just 2016 or something), in your opinion! And we also mean all sexualities and genders! This should be fun 😉

And now I will be answering this week’s random question:

Do you try out genres you have not liked in the past once in a while just to see if your taste changed?

ezgif-com-c253bd9094Definitely! Although not too often. This did happen to me with science fiction a few years back though. I used to be a fantasy and contemporary fiction girl only. And then I read the The Hunger Games series (I think), and that seems to have opened my mind to more sci-fi fiction. Before this, I had also started watching Doctor Who, which was definitely also a factor in my now liking sci-fi. Before this, I had only liked the classic Star Wars movies, and maybe some anime (although there is a sci-fi anime which kind of traumatized me as a teenager…but that’s a story for another day!)

Lately I’ve been trying to read more comics, as well as more non-fiction! But high fantasy fiction is still my most most favourite genre!

THANK YOU FOR READING MY POST! I HOPE THAT YOU WILL ENJOY MY NEW PRODUCT REVIEWS, AND THAT YOU WILL ALL JOIN CALENDAR GIRLS! ALSO, DO YOU EVER TRY OUT NEW GENRES JUST TO SEE IF YOUR TASTES HAVE CHANGED? LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS BELOW OR SHARE YOUR MUSING MONDAY POST WITH ME!

  1. I got my last owl crate this month. Realised it was costing me upwards of $400 a year and that 90% of the time the only thing I really liked in it was the book itself. I hope you have a better experience with it than I did!!

Oooh I’ve been increasing my comic intake too. I keep saying I’m going to try reading more non-fiction but I am just so bad/slow at non-fiction compared to fiction. I think I might try narrative non-fiction to break into it.

    1. Yeahhh they’re very expensive! This might be the last one I’m getting, and I’m getting it because I guessed the book (I hope), and it’s one that I’ve read and loved, and there are also two other things that I really want, which I would pay a lot more for on their own. So I considered it worth it. But I wasn’t crazy about the 2 books I got in the previous 2 owl crates I got, or the majority of the items sadly 🙁

And yay for more comics! Also I agree about the non-fiction. I have enough non-fiction in my day-to-day life haha.
