My May Book Haul……(so far)

maybookhaulThis is my May book haul, thus far! I have another book on the way though, and one I forgot to include.

1. Smith of Wootton Major by J.R.R. Tolkien
2. Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
3. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
4. The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson
5. The One by Kiera Cass
6. Cinder and Cress by Marissa Meyer
7. Eleanor & Park and Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

I forget whose blog post I got this information from, but I learned about bookoutlet.ca from somewhere, and well…I went a little nuts!

  1. I had never heard of Tolkien having written Smith of Wootton Major, before finding this book on bookoutlet.ca! I like to collect everything Tolkien, si it was an insta-buy.
  2. Also recently, I discovered that one of my favourite Hayao Miyazaki films How’s Moving Castle was based off a book! I, of course, had to go hunting for it, and was lucky enough to find a copy of it on Book Outlet!
  3. Shatter Me has been on my to-read list for some months.
  4. So has The Kiss of Deception.
  5. The fifth book I actually purchased for my sister.
  6. I had borrowed Cinder from the library, as I had been a little skeptical. But I loved it from the first paragraph, so I decided to work on buying the whole series haha. I was only able to find books 1 and 3, but I should be able to get the rest soon!
  7. Rainbow Rowell’s books I have also been trying to get my hands on, so when I saw both of these on Book Outlet, in hardcover, I added them to my cart instantly. My copy of Eleanor & Park is also AUTOGRAPHED by Rainbow Rowel, as if I didn’t already have enough reason to buy that book!

I am quite pleased with this first batch of books from Book Outlet, and I will likely purchase another batch soon (much to my boyfriend’s distress, haha).

Have you read any of these? And if so, which did you like or dislike? Why?

  1. I’ve read Howl’s moving castle, Cinder, and Eleanor & Park (which was probably my favourite).
I keep meaning to continue the Lunar Chronicles series!
Howl’s moving castle was very strange, with really mysterious magic.

    1. Oh nice! And yes, there’s a new book from the Lunar Chronicles coming out this fall, I believe.
And was the Howl’s Moving Castle book anything like the animated film? The film is one of my favourites!

  2. I’ve read most of these and particularly love Eleanor and Park, Fangirl, The One (and the rest of the series), Shatter Me, and The Lunar Chronicles. If you haven’t read Cassandra Clare’s books yet, I recommend them: they’re amazing! Her newest book, Lady Midnight, just came out in March.

    1. Oh that’s awesome! I can’t wait to read all of these 😀
And I remember I tried reading City of Bones like years ago, but it just wasn’t what I was looking for at the time, so I set it down and never picked it back up. But I will definitely give it another try soon! I have her first 3 books sitting on my shelf 🙂
