Down the TBR Hole, weekly meme

Down the TBR Hole #8

Well, I should have known that I couldn’t have an eight-week-streak when it comes to posting Down the TBR Hole posts, haha. Why, you ask? Because I’m me! While participating in this weekly meme, I’ve been able to remove some books from my TBR list, and while I’ve kept more than I’ve gotten rid of, I at least remembered why those that I kept had made it onto the list in the first place! Keep reading to see which books will be staying, and which will be going this week!

For those of you hearing about this meme for the first time, here’s some more info from the blog of the creator, Lia @ Lost in a Story:

Down The TBR Hole is a meme that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when youre scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well thats going to change!

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if youre feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

V.E. Schwab’s A Gathering of Shadows

This is the only series by V.E. Schwab that I like right now (which makes me kind of sad), but anyway … I read the first book with a few people when I hosted a readalong for it, and really liked it. So, I defnitely want to read the sequel, which means it’s:

Kathi Appelt and Alison McGhee’s Maybe a Fox

I absolutely love this cover! But since adding this book to my TBR, I have discovered that I really struggle with reading most middle grade books. They just aren’t for me, a lot of the time (which makes sense, since I lean toward books in the YA to adult categories). Therefore, this book will be:

Marissa Meyer’s Winter

Marissa Meyer’s The Lunar Chronicles is a series that highly surpassed my expectations! I have loved or really liked every book so far (except for the novella Fairest). Winter is the fourth and last book in the series (not including the graphic novels), and it’s definitely:

V.E. Schwab’s Warm Up

Since I removed the first book in this series, Villains, the last time I made one of these posts, it only makes sense to also remove the prequel. I’m not crazy about the synopses or covers for this book and Villains, … and I’m picky when it comes to Schwab’s writing, so this book is:

C.M. Lucas’s Mist & Whispers

I saw this book around a lot when it first came out, but then didn’t really see it around since then. I love the cover, but am not drawn to the story or anything else about it anymore. Due to my busy schedule, I also don’t know when I’d ever get around to reading this book, so it’s:

THANK YOU FOR READING THIS DOWN THE TBR HOLE POST! ARE ANY OF THESE BOOKS ON YOUR TBR LIST? WHY? WHY NOT? OR WERE THEY ON YOUR LIST BEFORE YOU REMOVED THEM FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER? LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS BELOW!
