Summary: Before The Star-Touched Queen there was only Death and Night.

For a fan of both The Star-Touched Queen (my review) and A Crown of Wishes (my review), this novella was such a treat! I remember really enjoying A Crown of Wishes, while also wishing that I could spend more time with two of the characters from the first book (and yes I’m purposely being vague so as not to spoil anything for those who have not yet read the other books!). Well, even though I never directly made a request to the author, Roshani Chokshi, she granted my wish anyway!

IMG_3705Although I would have enjoyed an “after” story quite a bit, the “before” story was quite awesome to read about too. Chokshi’s writing was just as magical as in her other books, and although we knew bits and pieces of this story from the previous books, there was still new information to absorb. This story was shorter compared to the other two books (and it was meant to be), but despite this, it was quite descriptive, and Chokshi did not fail in weaving yet another hypnotizing story for us.

I really enjoyed reading this novella, and will likely re-read it when I re-read the entire series. I also won’t be greedy by requesting more about these characters and world, but would like to say that I would not be opposed to Chokshi writing more novels or novellas about it all if she feels inspired! I highly recommend this novella for those who enjoyed The Star-Touched Queen and A Crown of Wishes! And for those of you who have read none of these books before, I would recommend reading this novella last, since there may be spoilers for the first book within Death and Night.
