Beat the Backlist 2017 TBR

Those of you who have scrolled through my Home page lately, may have noticed that I have added a reading challenge section at the bottom. I participated in the Goodreads reading challenge last year and did really well (75 out of 60! whut?!), so I decided to participate in a few more this year, and see how I do! One of these reading challenges is Beat the Backlist which is being hosted by the lovely Novel Knight!

The main idea behind this reading challenge, is to read some of those books which have been sitting in our TBR piles for far too long! I personally have shelves, not piles, of TBR books. So this challenge will be fantastic for motivating me to get through some of those books, and eliminate some of my TBR guilt, haha. I have also added the TBR books which I plan to read in 2017 in their own section in my bujo (bullet journal), so this should go pretty well (I hope).

The goal which I have set for this particular challenge is 20 books, and the books which I absolutely (have to) plan to read for this 2017 challenge are:

3. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
4. Binti by Nnedi Okorafor
5. A Darker Shade of Magic by Victoria Schwab
6. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
7. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
8. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
9. Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell
10. Passenger by Alexandra Bracken
11. Truthwitch by Susan Dennard
12. The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi

Also, because it sounds super fun, and also because I can never pass up anything Harry Potter AND reading related, I will be joining in the Hogwarts Mini Challenge for this reading challenge, as a (you guessed it),

Slytherin!

  1. I love this challenge! It’s basically the challenge I’m most excited about this year. 😀 Looks like we’re enemies though… I’m Ravenclaw. 😉 Your TBR is looking great by the way.

    1. Yaaay! It’s my first time participating, but I have a feeling that it’ll be very fun! And if it can help me plow through my TBR pile, all the better!

Awee I’m sad we’re enemies though 🙁 hahaha but good luck to you and your house!! 😀 And thanks for reading and commenting!

    1. Thanks so much! And sorry all of your comments were sitting in my spam folder for some reason. I didn’t know WordPress even had a spam folder until today!

    1. Thanks so much! And aaaah go right ahead! 😀 maybe we can read some of the same ones this year and discuss!

Thanks for reading and commenting!! 🙂

  2. I’m sadly not participating in this challenge (already participating in another) and I don’t want to overwhelm myself so maybe next year. You have a wonderful line-up of books! I see quite a few that I’ve enjoyed reading myself (Eleanor & Park, The Night Circus, An Ember in the Ashes, etc…) Good luck! I bet you can do it!

    1. Aweeee that makes me sad. But I understand about not overwhelming yourself. I’m trying to avoid that myself, haha. Though I may have already failed…

Also, I’m glad to see that you enjoyed some of these as it makes me look forward to them all the more! 😀

Good luck with all of your challenges this year and happy reading!! <3

  3. Good luck on this challenge! 20 books is very reasonable, though, so I”m sure you’ll meet it.
I can’t get over how pretty your hand writing is, an the bujo omg!, and everything about how you’re organizing this says so much about you. I wish I were this organized. <3

    1. Thank you so much!! And I hope I will! I didn’t request too too many ARCs for this year (YET), so I should have time to tackle the TBR. And oh my gosh, thank youuuu

That means so much! I wanted to become more organized this year, so your comment means a lot! <3

      1. Keep the ARC requests to a minimum for at least the first quarter of 2017 :p I am not accepting review requests and am only requesting physical ARCs, which are harder to get, so if I get denied, no big deal! I have pleennttyy of books to read in the meantime.

  4. Thanks so much!!! *BLUSH* I just started on it in late December so that means a lot!

And awe about the mini challenge, but I’m glad that you’re participating in the reading challenge though! Also yay, I definitely look forward to those more now 😀

  5. Six of Crows, A Darker Shade of Magic, and Illuminae are also on my list for the challenge! I’ve read Throne of Glass and it took me four books to really like the series, haha! For Three Dark Crowns, you might want to wait until the second book is out because the first is mainly a giant explanation and character index! I really liked Passenger and I’m waiting for the next book!
    Good luck!

    1. Oh yay! We’ll definitely have to share our opinions on Six of Crows, A Darker Shade of Magic, and Illuminae! And awe about Throne of Glass 🙁 I have heard that it’s not some people’s cup of tea…

And thanks for the heads up abuot Three Dark Crowns! I may read it together with the sequel when it comes out 😀

The second book for the Passenger series is up for request on NetGalley I think, by the way! 😀

Thanks so much! And good luck to you as well!

  6. I’m doing BtB too! I don’t have a TBR but I need to do a post about it!
I love your Bullet journal. I’m not artsy so I’m just going to buy a book journal on Amazon and fill it out. And maybe one of those pages that have the spines drawn like a bookshelf and you fill in the titles. That’s about as good as I can do when it comes to art stuff!
